Details if U of MN investigation

I want to find and read the 80 page report tonight (if it can be found). It seems by what is being reported that the 4 players may have done enough via preponderance of the evidence to be found to have violated U of M student code. I can buy hat.

I'm still not finding what the other 6 did to warrant their suspensions.

The fact that the players have apparently ended their boycott does speak volumes considering they met with the board of regents. The existence of video makes it intriguing but if I heard the reports right, the U had access to 2 short ones and not all the ones the police had.

Without reading the 80 page report there's still a lot of unanswered questions.

I still applaud the players for taking a stand. Everyone deserves to have some sort of "due process".

read the police report of the first interview there. Sorry, sorry incident. The girl is a fool - 5-6 shots of vodka before she even heads out to party - and then an apartment full of lowlifes who want to jump into a gang bang with a girl who isn't protesting much or at all. On the suspensions, why not? The men are supposed to be representing the U of Minn, why should it have to put up with this, not to mention the U's supporters are probably paying the men's tuition, etc.

So if I am reading this çorrectly, you are pretty much blaming the girl?

Where will the involved recruit be playing in the Fall of 2017?

Obviously, it will not be at the University of Minnesota.

Sad situation. Time to clean house with coaching staff, imho.

The recruit is a FL CB apparently?

He visited on 9/2 and has made 4 other visits, including Lincoln and is listed by rivals has a high prospect fot all 4 schools.

Medium for Minnesota, but after EEOC report; no way he attends there.

Sad story out of Dinkytown.

Hopefully, they axe the head coach and staff and end the culture of #hate.

I doubt that happens easily there.

She is an idiot for putting herself in this position.
The rapists should be thrown in jail and what they did is awful.
But lets not pretend she didnt make a huge mistake here. This is part of the problem...people think their actions and decisions are consequence free, and this "when you call out the victim you are therefore blaming them" attitude needs to stop otherwise no girls will learn anything from these situations.
Dont go to a party drunk out of your mind and agree to have sex with two people when there are a bunch of guys there. Thats awful in itself. And its awful of the guys to agree to that, too, not just her. Have some self respect for cripes sake. If you dont respect yourself how will you respect others?
Those who did the assaulting deserve full blame for their actions, but lets use this as a teachable moment.

It is interesting reading some of the reactions to this. The "out" is to justify bad behavior with other bad behavior. Did the girl make a huge mistake with her actions? Certainly. Did that give license to the guys for their actions, absolutely not. I can't tie them together no matter how hard I try but apparently that is what some call Karma which I don't believe in either.

I admit to not reading the 80 page article so someone can tell me why the coaches are guilty of a culture of hate and deserve to be fired? Did they cover something up?

This due process thing is way overblown as well. The University has a behavior standards that all students agree to abide by. The standard for dismissal is much less than a court of law. When I was doing my school law classes the university I was attending found out a guy had some kind of sexual assault charge against him - the extent I do not recall, too many years ago - but the result is the U sent him a nice letter he was no longer welcome as a student and he had not yet been convicted nor attended classes. Seems like the guys on the team coming to the aide of their teammates who are suspended found out how the system really works.

you are putting words into other peoples mouths. I whole heardetly agree with the above except the karma part. The girl did make a huge mistake with her actions. It did not give the guys license. Both parties need to be called out for their idiodic or evil actions. Thats the only way girls will learn from this, as well as guys. Dont put yourself in this situation, period. Have some self respect, that goes for all three individuals who thought it would be a good idea to do that in a room full of people.

I sure hope we don't extend a scholarship offer to this recruit.

Thanks to Tuco for posting the whole report. I am about halfway through it. The girl was irresponsible, yes. But sounds like at some point she felt as if, for her own safety, she had to go along with what was happening to her. She was raped pure and simple by a group of overpowering men who made her feel powerless. The accused football players come across in this report as reprehensible sexual predators. From what I have read the University did absolutely the right thing. My initial fears that this was a politically correct rush to judgment were completely unfounded. Appalling stuff in this report

They just covered the story on the NBC evening news, mostly about the players ending their boycott, but also mentioned that some women were out protesting in support of the victim. No details about the actual incident.

Yes, after reading the police report and parts of the E0AA report, I'm surprised that the police couldn't make out a case against any of the men.

Agree. I think the university report said they interviewed the woman, 12 possible violators and 16 other possible witnesses, and other evidence before making a report. It isn't as though the woman said "they did something" and the U just took her word for it. Sounds like the process is not over yet either, they are just suspensions so far. Didn't sound like the players were getting railroaded.

Anyone remember the recruiting story with Lydon Mutha? He was from Minnesota and considered the gophers. His hosts took him to a strip club. That made him drop Minnesota from consideration. Seems like a long history of using sex to sell football recruits on Minnesota. And yes, I know Minnesota wouldn't be alone in that.

I believe the police also had a video from one of the 2 players involved in the original act that showed he and the alleged victim in a playful and joking way the morning after the incident. To the Prosecutor, that may have been enough show reasonable doubt and sway them to not file charges. Just a thought.

Yeah, the Prosecutor probably figured no jury would vote to convict after seeing such a video. Crazy situation

5 student-athletes will be dismissed from the University and football scholarship, while 4 will face a one year suspension and 1 will face one year probation. One would presume the recruit will not be admitted and he will have to look at other options.

For those of us that did not defend the players, but did defend this little thing called due process, shut the F up. Seriously. I get so tired of the court of public opinion. Can I say if the dudes raped someone they should go to jail for life, but I think any person desservers a day in court? Or do I just need to automatically say " they are guilty no matter the facts? If the chick was a stripper or was hammered and was looking for a 3 some like the Purdue case that should not matter. Stick your self righteous act up you a$$. Lets not convict anyone until they are proven guilty.

BTW, sickens me how bad some want these guys to be guilty. What really worries me is how quickly we convict people, and so called conservatives are the worst. Better a guilty man goes free than an innocent man be convicted.

Had a former co-worker that was fired, before his court date, when he was arrested for soliciting of a prostitute He was acquitted due to entrapment. Guess what. Still tried to pick up a hooker and still got fired.

Well, what due process are we talking about? Legal system? If so, the players who started a boycott didn't have any complaint because due process was accorded and in fact no one was charged I guess. Due process within the University? What was the boycott complaint there? There was in investigation, a detailed report, and recommendations made and considered before they were suspended. Is there some evidence that the U didn't follow its procedures with the players involved in the incident? Not that I can see. Looks to me like a bunch of players just threw a temporary fit yelling "due process" because a bunch of teammates suffered university discipline for bad behavior.

Your statements are about a legal matter, what the UofM did was student code of conduct and they followed the Fed Govt require process and found 5 players needed expulsion 5 needed a 1 year suspension and 1 probation, they did not address the recruit as they don't have jurisdiction over him other than to pull his scholarship offer which they did (as NU should and I believe has). The players are challenging/appealing the ruling which is all part of their rights and part the the due process as it relates to the schools investigation. I can tell you the players not involved once they read the report and fully informed and found out how upset the community and their own parents were realized they made a big mistake with the boycott and spent all night trying to figure out how to back out of it. What is expected next up here in MN is that the police investigation may very well be reopened everyone is waiting to see the consequences the coaches face for voicing their support of the players right to boycott. I personally don't expect Tracy Claeys to survive he supposedly handed down the suspensions then tweets about being so proud of his team totally throwing his bosses under the bus especially the new AD who didn't hire him.

That's fine, we must mean more government citizen groups to get to the bottom of this stuff.

So funny how the right will slam me at times, and the left will slam me as well. I stick up for the unarmed black man shot by the police, when the police have no evident. I will stand up for the black college student against the privileged white Woman when she is a ***** and screams rape. I will always stick up fro the little guy, it is the American way. But I will stick up for the Business guy and say he should pay less taxes, and less regulation. In other words, I am not a hypocrite.

Well, maybe you know some facts that I don't, I haven't read a lot on this case, but are you assuming that a "privileged" "white" "*****" was the complainant here? How do you know she was white, and how do you know she was somehow more "privileged" than the defendant football players. (And is there some reason to think she is a "*****?") Since you stick up for "the little guy" would you stick up for some nameless female passed around by 6-10 guys on football scholarships?

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but it sounds as though they did have due process in the legal system. Minnesota football aint the court. They have their own standards and it looks like they had done their research on this, the players boycotted without knowing the reasons, then it was laid out for them and they said ok we will play now...obviously cuz it looks some bad stuff happened.
Minnesota will have to face the consequences of what they decided in public, but these players arent going to jail as of now. That is where the due process happens you are referring to.

What if the little guy is wrong? It really sounds as though it isnt due process you want...you make your decisions based on things other than facts...race, wealth, etc. really, you need to evaluate the reasons you take the stances you do, before you call others out.
