Was Quickley getting more minutes that Whitney when Whitney was still at Kentucky?

Would we not be better, if Cal gets Whitney to play to his potential and we have Quickley coming off the bench? The other possibility is that maybe, if Whitney is playing at a high level, because Cal developed him over the year, Cal could set Ashton down, play Tyrese at the point and Quickley at the 2. So many people only look at the game we just played and point out that we would be better if we had only played XXX(insert the backup everyone wants to see) instead of playing for the end of the season and to what could be our potential. Cal does that. He knows that he is going to take some lumps during the season because he was developing the new guy instead of using the one with experience. This is why his teams usually peak at the end of the season instead of the beginning or middle.

Yep. He is one of the best spot up shooters in the country but it won’t be as easy getting that shot off over Kawhi or Lebron. He also really needs to work on finishing and decision making in transition. He almost always misses or gets his shot blocked. His size and athleticism really kills him in that aspect and that’s against college players. IMO, I really believe Quick is a really good college guard that won’t transition so well to the NBA. He may get a couple of two way contracts, but I can’t see him ever being a big contributor. But please don’t get me wrong, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with being a really good/great college player. I believe we need more of those than focusing on kids that have NBA potential but never realize that potential until 2-3 years in the league. We never get to see the best of them here.
Idk Quickley most likely will never have Kawhi or Lebron guarding him in the NBA for starters and he is a knock down shooter who can handle the ball and has recently shown that he has that knack for drawing shooting fouls like many of the top NBA scorers do (not saying he will be a top NBA scorer just that you don't see college guys with the savy to draw shooting fouls like he has shown). His floater game is solid but will need to improve slightly but at 6' 3 I could see him being a solid combo guard in the league if things go his way.

No one should be shocked, but for sure people will be. Because he’ll get blown up on here to be the next great thing (ie we don’t need Keldon Johnson back next year, because we have Whitney coming in!).
Whitney didn't pan out :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thought I read he would be a pretty low pick at this point? Also have read that his best chance of doing well in pro's is at the one and that he is considering coming back to hone his skills at the one.

possibly but he seems to have the work ethic to make money doing that in the d league. An argument could be made that we have a gap at the 1 if Askew needs development, so you may have a point. I’ve just learned not to count on returning guys too much haha
