Iowa did not run two traditional runs plays in a row until under 11:00 to go in the 4th Q. Ran on 3rd and 1 with Williams, then on 1st and 10 with Williams.

By "traditional", I mean a run that can pound the defense. Not jet sweeps, qb sneaks, etc.

Before that point in the 4th Q, Iowa had once followed a run with a goal line qb sneak, and at another point followed a run with an end-around handoff to DJV.

Then there were two consecutive power runs (the 2nd from Brown) with just under 8 minutes to go in the 4th Q. Then, with under 3 minutes to play, Iowa ran it 7 straight times.

For people to be characterizing it as "run, run, pass" is absurd. Some people have no idea what they are watching

Had the Hawks run as much as you wanted, they would have lost. Last night was a perfect example of why you need to be able to throw the ball.

KF highly prioritizes being the most physical team on the field. And that just isn't going to get accomplished by not ever running it at least twice in a row

Great posts! It was only thanks to Diaz's skill that we were able to score quickly, then get the ball back to score again to tie it at half time. The fact is, there will be defenses that will sell out to stop the run, and it will work. There are some lines our Oline won't be able to beat in the trenches. Luckily they bent, but never broke. Iowa State kept giving our WRs cushion to catch, which allowed us to actually move the ball, unlike the run. It was only thanks to burning their secondary time and time again that our run game started to pick up a little steam in the fourth.

Some people are mentally unwell if they believe yelling the same, nothing burger phrase over and over again, despite whatever the in-game situation is, will just magically fix things. Luckily it's Lester and Kirk on the sidelines, and not our local midwit reject. Happy to see him be proved wrong, time and time again!
