when MSU got the ball that last time, they were going to pull it out? I HATE short kicks like that, kick it to the goal line. So many times it comes back to bite you. Whew!

It was kind of like Adi kicking the ball out of bounds vs Texas... Except it was planned.

Yeah, I didn't understand that at all. It wouldn't have been so bad if the kick wouldn't have been a liner to the shortstop. But hey, it all worked out this time!

Riley talked about this. They missed the kick a little and the MSU player made a head's up play. Ideally it drives towards the endzone. I still prefer kick deep and make them try and return. Also runs more time off.

Yeah, that was still a bad call. I understand why he did it, but I think on the pros and cons ledger, kicking it deep would have still won out.

I really didn't, what are the chances that it could happen again? I did get nervous though after they completed a pass..

Simply, it was poor execution by us. Those are the little things that winning teams do correctly. Our failed onside kick was not close, this kick was too short and right to a guy. The worst outcome you want is the ball around the 30 while using a little time. Then you force them into seven step drops instead of five or three and they need 2 or 3 completions. They also had two time outs and after they completed the pass it did have me yelling at the tv. Not to rag but for having a dedicated and experienced special teams coach we should be better in this area.

Props to Drew Brown for hitting the field goals!

That kick was just one of several head scratching calls by us last night to be honest, but luckily MSU wasn't done calling head scratchers either. Their last play call could not have been weirder. If I'm a Spartan fan (team, not poster) I'd be pretty disappointed with that loss. I think Dantonio kind of screwed the pooch a few times. I wonder if Narduzzi (sp?)was a bigger loss than I originally thought because even with everyone I thought they were getting back they just don't look the same to me. Didn't look into it, but I thought they had a ton of returning starters, but man they sure don't look like I thought they would this year.
