Did anyone else notice this in the AU game?

It was in the first half and AU had the ball and there was a measurement for a first down. They were all crowded around where you could not see the stick but I saw one of our players look in and then signal to our bench that he was about 6" short. Immediately after that the ref signalled first down. Only at Auburn is 29' 6" a first down.

I especially noticed how the TV crew did not zoom in on it at the time. Very unusual for them to not do since that's usually one of those suspense moments. I wonder if there are standing orders from on high.

I did and while I'm not sure that it was 6", there was a split second camera shot where you could indeed see at least one chain link in between the marker and the ball. I laughed when they signaled the first down and thought... only in Auburn is there a "close enough" first down

Yes, I noticed no zoom and wondered the same thing. I could have sworn I could see "daylight" between the rod tip and the ball. Maybe they hadn't stretched it far enough at the time. And any rate, without the close shot, it wasn't nearly as blatant as two years ago.

yep, one of our d lineman started jumping up and signaling that it was short and he gestured with a two hand motion about how far it was. for a split second, i thought you could see light between the ball and the stick (AGAIN), but it was in the shadows with a camera angle that was not 90* to the ball. still, it looked short.

oh well, aub gonna aub and refs gonna aub...nothing new there.

The lack of holding calls was atrocious. Someone posted a pic with an Auburn lineman with a handful of jersey all stretched out.

There were several plays where they flat out tackled our linemen.

If its the same pic I'm thinking about, there was more than that going on.

We have four defenders in the pic. Two are being held while the other two are recipients of illegal hands to the face. I know refs are going to miss calls from time to time and I know you can call holding on every play of football at every level from high school to the NFL, but when EVERY defensive player trying to get to the QB but when every player is being held or pushed in the face, how do they miss it unless they intentionally miss it?

i know some will take it as a joke, but im being serious.....do we want jerseys that will stretch THAT FREAKING MUCH?.....those tech fits stretch like a mo-fo.

would it not be better to have a material that did not have so much elasticity? those things have to have a significant amount of spandex in them.

(hey, its better than more talk about ****** coaches, amiright?)
