Did Berry apply for a medical redshirt?

When did he get hurt?

I was thinking once you played in 4 games, you were ineligible for a medical redshirt, but obviously that's not right. How many games can you play and still receive a medical redshirt?

They changed the rule a few years ago. And you always round up, so in football a player can compete in up to 4 games (but none after the 6th game) and still get a medical redshirt.

I'm glad for the guy that he got a medical redshirt. I think if you play in 4 games or less (especially if the injury is junior or senior year) a medical redshirt should be available, but assuming he played in the first three games, 3/12 = 25%. Am I misunderstanding something?

Lockett's season a year ago ended in the fourth game when he tore his ACL.

I can't remember the exact number, but it's pretty strict. I remember Doug Zeigler broke his leg in the first half of I believe the 4th game of the season his senior year, and back then, the rule definitely cut off at 3 games. He was a quarter or two late and didn't get the medical. Career ended right there with the broken leg. That's pretty tough on a guy, especially if it's someone who had borderline talent to possibly have a shot to get drafted.

That makes me feel better about Marcus Green. Really hope he can get a medical for last year so we can have him for another year. I think if he can get two complete seasons under him his numbers will be gaudy for a TE.</p>
