Well, he thought Satterfield and Shula were the best OC hires he could make. I don't put a lot of stock into his thought processes.Given that Beamer will absolutely know he is on the hot seat heading into next season, I have to think his OC hire will not be a flippant one. I'm not saying he may not end up giving the job to Furrey, but if he does, I think it will be because he's convinced that's the best hire he can make. I also suspect Donati will promise Beamer the resources he needs to hire the best guy Beamer possibly can.
So not a stupid question...It's a stupid question but at the same time an understandable one.
Like when we hired Beamer, posters here have asked: is there any other program in the country who was interested in him as a HC?
Same with Furrey: is there any other program in the country who would be interested in him as OC? Frankly, he'd be highly unlikely to even get hired as a position coach at another P4 program.
So, yes, the job is probably his.
It's stupid that we have to even ask it. But I understand why it is being asked. Because we would do something stupid like that.So not a stupid question...
Jason Beck's offense put on a show today. Spotted a couple of TDs to Kstate but Utah scored 51 points to win the game by 4 pts.Given that Beamer will absolutely know he is on the hot seat heading into next season, I have to think his OC hire will not be a flippant one. Jimmys and Joes or X’s and O’s? Makes a difference.Jason Beck's offense put on a show today. Spotted a couple of TDs to Kstate but Utah scored 51 points to win the game by 4 pts.
I'd like to see what he could do here.
In keeping with our fallacious hiring practices. If we beat Clemson - or even if we play really well and lose a close game - I think he gets the job.

Nor do I, but I that doesn't mean he's not going to put a lot of thought into it.Well, he thought Satterfield and Shula were the best OC hires he could make. I don't put a lot of stock into his thought processes.
Hope your last sentence is true. If so, Beamer needs to do his best salesman act to make a big name move.Given that Beamer will absolutely know he is on the hot seat heading into next season, I have to think his OC hire will not be a flippant one. Well, "the best guy Beamer possibly can" has a pretty significant built-in caveat. If we end up with an underwhelming OC hire, I don't think it will be because we lacked the financial resources to get him or because Beamer didn't make the effort.Hope your last sentence is true. I feel like I am taking crazy pills. After a decade of mostly inept offensive coordinator, hires and inept offenses, our fans are clamoring for us to hire a guy who will have called three games in his career. One game in which the offense was totally inept for an entire half and the other game against one of the worst defenses in all of FBS.In keeping with our fallacious hiring practices.
I respectfully disagree. Getting the players' opinions and all is a nice gesture but shouldn't weigh in any final decision on a new hire. It's my understanding some current players made a plea for Shula to be OC and see how that turned out. Of course they probably love Coach Furrey and that is great. I wouldn't expect them to say "Please hire someone from the outside. Coach Furrey's gotta go".I don’t know if he is “the guy” or not. Also, it was Coastal but that’s the best the offense has looked all season. Basically he let Sellers be Sellers. If they perform well against Clemson then I think we have to consider Furrey a candidate. Also I wonder how the players feel about the decision.
Who Beamer chooses will impact which players leave and which players stay.
I'm not sure he's coaching anywhere this year. My one critique of him from when he was at Clemson, is they game into our game every year with an otherworldly offense, and our D shut them down each year except 2014.Why is Chadd morris not under consideratio.
i know he coach at that other place but you can’t argue with results and his QB recruiting.
I believe his role at Limestone was HC and OC so he called plays there too.I feel like I am taking crazy pills. I guess we get what we deserve.

Before they shut down, Limestone had a satellite site with classrooms in a strip mall in my hometown right next to a Food Lion.Yeah, but does Limestone count for anything?
We could, and I’d say it’s better than a 50 percent chance we will, do worse. Regardless, perception right now is such that Beamer has to look outside the program. Not particularly fair to Furrey and could be a mistake, but has to be done.I believe his role at Limestone was HC and OC so he called plays there too.

Ridiculous question OP. Beamer better hire a proven name that will excite recruits md transfers. Otherwise, we'll have a new HC roughly this time next year.If we beat Clemson - or even if we play really well and lose a close game - I think he gets the job.
Everyone has a price.Who else could we get better? I don't mean who else IS better, who else could WE get that is better?
