Threw for a ton, so did Little Farve

BUT, can he run, did not see much discussion on that subject.

Statues don't fit in, in MSU's current scheme.

No he didn't. I grew up with his dad Flint and graduated HS with his mom Kim. Kim and I were freshmen at State together also. Kim was even on the basketball team at State and was in a sorority. They are good folks and good friends. Why Gardner isn't being recruited to State, OM, or USM is up to the coaches of those schools. He has other offers and will play some form of ball somewhere. I know Keonig was high on him but when he left I think State had nobody else high on him. He is still being looked at but with our numbers & style he probably isn't gonna get an offer from Mullen.

He a college player. At what level and how good remains to be seen. Just like 99% of every recruit.

I was being sarcastic about his dad. That was the most sunshine pumping article that I've ever seen. I just found out that Brandon's radio guy wrote that article. That explains it.

I like him a lot, but he is not a high D1 player. He could do well at Delta State and places like that. That's not a knock on him but he lacks the athleticism and arm strength to play major conference ball. I hope he doesn't let pride make him do something foolish.

I absolutely can't stand it when people throw Brees' height around in conversations.

"He's taller than Drew Brees." ????

There has never been a QB like Drew Brees and probably won't be another Drew Brees in the next 100 6' and shorter QB's who somehow get invited to NFL training camp.

Making the connection to an above average Mississippi QB to a guy with comparable measurables who's thrown for 5,000 yards 4 times in the NFL would be like me saying "Well I'm definitely taller than Muggsy Bogues, so there's obviously not a reason I can't be a starting point guard in the NBA."

The money quote .....................................................................................................................

Southern Miss needs a big time player at quarterback, but the Golden Eagles have yet to offer either.

Ouch.

I had better scores than that and I didn't play D1. No one is demonizing him. His lack of scholarship offers is all you need to know. Great kid. Smart. Not an SEC player. No shame because most aren't.

Let's demonize a high school kid who's a four point student with a 30 ACT. Real classy.

I'm not demonizing the kid. I've never seen him play or watched his film. But that article is beyond ridiculous. I wish him the best but just because his radio guy writes an insanely laughable article doesn't mean he's gonna get a SEC offer.

Well, just like Brad Banks, maybe Minshew needs to go to Junior College and prove everyone wrong. If he truly desires to be an SEC QB, then by going to EMCC or another JC and performing, some SEC school will probably offer him.

One thing I do truly respect about Bo Wallace is that he knew what he wanted, he went to JC, and found a way to become an SEC QB and a somewhat successful one at that. Minshew will have the same opportunity.

In fact, sometimes I believe it's easier to become an SEC starting QB out of JUCO then it is by going to an SEC school out of high school.

Out of high school, you may be entering a situation where there are 4 or 5 other QBs on the roster that you will have to beat out. However, out of JUCO, someone is likely recruiting you to come in and either start or compete for the starting job.

Well I can tell you this because I've heard

It from one of our coaches. Our staff has the utmost respect for Gardner and his family. With that said they probably are not going to offer for a multitude of reasons already brought up but basically you got to fit the scheme. The coach I talked too believes he can play D1 ball and UAB had offered he thought at the time and he felt UAB would be a great fit. Our staff has nothing but good things to say about him and if he had a first round left tackle brother his *** would already be signed*

True, he doesn't fit our current scheme. Yes he can run when he needs to. He isn't slow but he is not a running qb. Not all successful qb's run the ball. In fact, most successful qb's don't run the ball. This kid is smart as Hell, studies the game, works hard, is a leader, and doesn't make many mistakes. He has worked his tail off this offseason and pretty much won an award or been the MVP at every camp he has been to with way more highly touted qb's. He just led Brandon to a 3rd place finish in the National 7 on 7 tourney. He's doing all he can. If he has another stellar year or even a better year at Brandon and can somehow win the state title, he will get offers from D1 schools. He won't get one from us because of our scheme and we have already got our qb's for this upcoming class. I just hope and pray we never have to play against the kid. He is gonna make some college coach very happy he offered when Gardner is a junior or senior. He ain't thru growing either. If he ends up 6'3 and 230, he will then be perfect sized and make us all wish he was a Bulldog. For the record, I want him to be one, but I also want what's best for him. And MSU isn't it right now
