heard on radio that d was more aggressive and only gave up 7. Is this just radio talk or did they look better in 2nd half?

That's mainly radio talk and misleading to be honest. The main reason there weren't as many points is because we controlled the time of possession a little more and caught a few breaks including an interception in the end zone when they were cutting through us like a hot knife through butter. They moved the ball quite a bit in the second half and there was no noticeable difference in how inept the defense was. They continued to look completely lost and couldn't even get lined up correctly on most plays. Any time you give up 40+ points to a non-P5 team it's not good news.

NMSU made a turnover deep I'm the red zone after moving the ball with ease early in the 4th. Stoops and the UKAA pumpers are making it sound better than it was.

So if the other team throws a pick it was a break for us? What do you call it when we throw a pick? UK gave up less than 150 yards in the 2nd half.

Yeah, I'd consider it catching a break when a team is driving through you like a Brinks truck and you luck up with the QB making a bad decision in the red zone. The defense played terrible, plain and simple. I call it like I see it and giving up 42 points to New Mexico State is not a good thing. No other way to spin it, sorry.

So I guess they "lucked up" when we threw a pick.

We caught some breaks on deep dropped passes by NMSt and we also made some plays. Sure, it was positive we only have up 7 pts but it certainly wasn't great. It's possible they actually made some halftime adjustments, unbelievable as it may sound.

In the 2nd half they punted 4 times and we picked off a pass. The D played well in the 2nd half.
Considering the putrid opposition, not really. Graded in comparison to the way they played in the first half, the D was amazing. A+ by that comparison.

I don't know man..I mean it was a good individual play, but I'm just really disappointed in the overall defensive play. That's just a bad, bad defensive performance overall. I was expecting this team to have a little pride and make some adjustments and improve after the debacle we saw from them the first couple weeks, but they've continued to get worse. Hard for me to get excited about that. Pretty disheartening actually

They had about 150 yards in 2nd half, and 7 points. (They had 345 at half).

So, how do you explain Mark taking over a program with pitiful talent and a pitiful coach and turn this around in four years?
Can you please use proper grammar and some decent sentence structure?
Oh, btw you may want to address my quote rather than trying a straw man question?

Uh, very, very NOT impressive?
Lol. Fair enough. But you can't say the 2nd half wasn't much better than the first. Any sign of progress should be celebrated....especially for a Defense giving up 44 pts per game.

UK's defense is really bad but they absolutely played better in the second half. To refuse to recognize that is just dishonest and looking for a reason to ***** and you really don't need to look for a reason because there are plenty.

YES THE DEFENSE DID PLAY BETTER IN THE 2ND HALF. BUT THE SECONDARY IS STILL VERY DISAPOINTING. THERE WERE A FEW WIDE OPEN RECIEVER'S THAT GOT BAD PASSES, A FEW DROPPES. LOOKED LIKE TO ME THE BEND BUT DON'T BREAK DEFENSE WAS IN FULL EFFECT.

But breaks go both ways, you can't make it one sided. If we don't drop an easy interception we probably beat S.MISS.

New Mexico st is ranked almost dead last in the fbs rankings..I'd say we still suck pretty bad.

They played better in the 2nd half but the pitchforks have been drawn and people want this to fail . If we looked good for the next game they would be mad . They've moved on to a coaching search that is not going to happen for a candidate that will not be impressive .

Wrong! I'd love to see us at 3-3 in mid October. I was hoping for 4-2 but I'll take 3-3, and I'll take a bowl if we can somehow get there, and then a really good year (7 wins?) next year. I'd love that. I don't envision it, though.

Good for you and I mean that , nothing wrong with support but most fit the description I gave . Just look at all the suggestions of who we should hire .

Oh yeah, We beat a great NMST team and only gave up 42 points when the head coach was calling the defense. What great strides, This game should buy Stoops at least another year, hell he's on pace to win 2 Games this year! What progress! [eyeroll]

I hate to say this, but we got lucky Barker got hurt. Johnson is head and shoulders above him and that should show fans how well Stoops assesses his offensive depth chart. And how in the hell did Snell just get in the game at game 3? Kids a beast. Hint: he's not good at it.

Bottomline is if we had played just about any SEC team today we would have been beaten soundly. We're running out of OOC foes on this schedule.
Defense isn't SEC level and it isn't close. Offense looks good...against bottom-feeder teams like NM State and Southern Miss. (for a half).
We're looking solidly at a 3-4 win MAX, season.

There's that gaslighting by admin supporters I warned people about.
Even a hint of support and people get so angry , they get mad because fans support the program . I'm going to hope the team does well whether you like it or not , I'm not going to run them down even if it upsets you . If there is a coaching change then I will support that , so long as it's not a Petrino or Briles type human and hope for the best . If I get tired of supporting a program that has almost always been a loser then I will stop following them as opposed to turning on them .

I've been on the Briles bandwagon, but what I want most is for Stoops to turn the season around.

I'm just going to take everything week to week now.

Hopefully I look up one week and we're bowl eligible.

Are you saying that this one half has redeemed the past 14 games(approximately)?

This defense is very very young (started 7 sophomores today). And the few jrs and sr. who do play are playing for the first time. They are going to struggle and was well publicized all fall. Thought they played really well the second half (compared to what we seen all year. ). Also when we ran very vanilla packages all game on defense. When we knew they had to throw it late and could pin our ears back and go after qb they didn't move the ball at all and think we actually knocked down a couple balls at the line along with getting pressure with just rushing four. I honestly don't think we blitzed all game.

I don't think the coaches thought we had too. They had a lot of confidence in offense was going to score and played more of a bend and don't break defense after getting burned on two trick plays early. And figured we could "out talent them" or they would make mistakes looking for a big play that just wasn't there. They did that in the second half with the pick in the end zone. But we played a very vanilla defense today. Looked like we rushed for and played some man out wide and zone in mid/short pass coverage with line backers.

One thing I noticed a couple times was defensive end would establish an edge on a run play, love or jones would go outside the end and allow a big cut back lane. With them going outside no one was there as that is their gap responsibility. That's terrible fundamental plays . I'm sure the coaches aren't telling them to do that, and they are pressing to make a big play in open field instead of playing sound fundamental defense. Our LB have really struggled reading plays and playing the schemes. Which is hurting the run defense. The line getting pushed back two yards ain't helping either.
