yeah i looked there earlier and saw that. But since it had 11-5, i did not think it was updated because we are 12-5. Who else does rpi's besides Real Time?

I know we have no business being there, and that will correct itself, but that's still shocking to me.

I expect MSU to do a lot like last year and make a late season surge to try to overcome a crappy OOC showing. Not sure that I think it'll be enough to make the tourney this time, but after watching you start SEC play, I'd say I expect MSU to be an NIT team with a shot at being on the bubble.

11-5 is the updated record. Our game against UNA doesn't count toward the RPI.

Also, was our OOC schedule that weak to have OM 50 points higher than us? I don't remember them playing and/or beating anyone of note other than Louisville.

was our OOC schedule that weak to have OM 50 points higher than us?
Centenary, LA Monroe, and Fairleigh Dickinson have a combined 9 wins and all have an RPI in the 300s. Meanwhile, Ole Miss has three games against top-25 RPI teams. Aside from those games, our schedules are similar, RPI speaking.

that Ole Miss hasn't played any RPI dregs (300+) and we have played 3. It doesn't matter that they haven't beaten anyone of note or that they took a 20 point skulldragging to USM, they've just avoided playing the RPI bottom feeders which we haven't. Until last night, their best win was against Arky St. (RPI-110).

Stans's critics are right on that one. I'm glad the team is playing well now, but there's really no excuse to lose both of those games. Upsets happen, but when you lose to two 100+ RPI teams at home, it really hurts.

Not only that, but a home loss counts as 1.4 losses when calculating RPI (road W = 1.4 W, road L = 0.6 L, home W = 0.6 W, home L = 1.4 L).

I don't necessarily agree with the factors they use. I can understand adjusting for home and road games, but to say a road win is worth more than twice a home win, regardless of who or where you're playing, is ridiculous. All road games aren't equal.

By my figurin', if we had won those two games our RPI would be #45.
[Our adjusted W-L would be 10.2-2.6 instead of the current 9.0-5.4. Using the same SOS, our RPI jumps to 0.5858 from the current 0.5429, which would be good enough for 45th.]

I'm using Warren Nolan's numbers, which currently has us at #97.

Just goes to show how big a difference it makes when you lose a game you should win.
