I've never said it, but I have thought it more than a few times over my 7 decades...
I very seriously doubt Saban would say something like that. The man is ate up with "the process", so there's no chance he'd say anything that might cause his team to take an opponent lightly.
That's not to say his players don't or won't, but it's not gonna be because of something he says.

We shouldn't even play this game. We should is forfeit and make sure we're healthy for Vanderbilt Mississippi state and Missouri and Austin Peay
Would be surprised if he said something like that, he builds up every opponent Bama is about to play, so I don't think he would say anything negative about any team on their schedule.
I really wouldn't play my starters. There is no upside and I don't care what people think about it. We can't afford to lose a single starter.

Lose Johnson, Boom, Snell, or a starting oline just for one week and Vandy becomes a much tougher win.
Same with a couple of defenders - Jones, Ware, Pringle...
Losing to Bama by 3 TD's or 5 means squat this year.
I'm with you on the numbers end but not on the human end, starting the backups would be the equivalent of sacrificing the weak to protect the strong(er)...it would be a slaughter.

Snell is a frosh as is our left tackle they would be fine.
If our 2's and 3's are this fragile then they need to be replaced asap.
