Back when I grew up, to play for UK, I would have paid to be on the team even if I was a good enough player. Times have changed…I would've played for free.
( ...sigh. kicks gravel, walks away)
Interesting question; how much is the Kentucky basketball experience, 10 career minutes, a Senior night, and a degree worth? What would a person be willing to pay for the "walk on package"?Back when I grew up, to play for UK, I would have paid to be on the team even if I was a good enough player. Times have changed…
Darius Miller may be the most under appreciated cat I can remember. National champion. Maybe he takes a pay cut for being a Kentucky boy. 1.2 mil lolJust for "s**ts and jiggles" as they say, what do you think the payroll would be for the 96 team, 2012 team, 2015 team?
I truly wouldn't know where to start guessing on what those guys would have been paid if openly legal back then.
96 team...probably would have broken the bank
2012 team...close to the 96 but not in the same $$$ bracket for the entire team
2015 team might have set a new record for pay outs.
If a part time starter is getting a quarter of a million, wow, what would Darius Miller be worth?
Same here.Back when I grew up, to play for UK, I would have paid to be on the team even if I was a good enough player. Times have changed…

Respectfully, 5-800K ranges in the estimate there aren't convincing anyone. "I heard we paid between 1 and 3 million for Dioubate." I'm an insider now.A friend sent me a text that he read on a post somewhere:
Moreno 600,000-1,200,000
Johnson 800,000-1,400,000
Jelavic 600,000-1,200,000
Williams 1,500,000-2,200,000
Lowe 1,700,000-2,400,000
Dioubate 1,200,000-2,000,000
Quaintance 2,300,0000-2,800,000
Aberdeen 1,800,000-2,600,000
Perry 300,000-500,000
Noah 300,000-500,000
Chandler 800,000-1,400,000
Oweh 2,000,000-3,000,000
Garrison 1,800,000-2,400,000
Total, before anybody else: 15,700,000 - 23,600,000
I have ABSOLUTELY KNOW IDEA if these number are accurate, or even close, but that is what he texted me yesterday.
But, if this is accurate, I cannot imagine how we can ever expect a winning football program. Funds have to be limited.
I have zero inside information, but I feel like he might have transferred after his junior year.Darius Miller may be the most under appreciated cat I can remember. National champion. Maybe he takes a pay cut for being a Kentucky boy. 1.2 mil lol
Idk whos accurate but perhaps these nil deal have guaranteed money then incentives that could push it much higher if we make a ff or a title. That’s how these deals should be anyway. Idk how many of these buy a roster years there will be but I hope we capitalize and be ready to spend 30 million next year. LolA friend sent me a text that he read on a post somewhere:

How come?I have zero inside information, but I feel like he might have transferred after his junior year.
It was pretty obvious that MKG would start over him.How come?
We paid Robey and Givens $500 each to speak at a Youth Ball banquet. This will probably be our highest paid team since the 80s!!
I bet JQ is between Aberdeen and Oweh. Like Lowe.A friend said David Sisk said

If the NCAA has the forethought of even a Hamster, they would have put caps on NIL.Where does this circus end..
I wonder if Universities can take out insurance policies for injuries, have the insurance pay out part of the contract? Like Lloyds of London that players take out on their own bodies. We paid Robey and Givens $500 each to speak at a Youth Ball banquet.

We got our money's worth. They were gracious with their time.
It is ridiculous that the rules said "NO".
My Point: Today's system is not wrong. It's capitalism at its finest.
Clearly the money is there...And players get what they are valued.
Griping about how much they get reveals how much WE are NOT worth.
Why would they? It’s the Wild West, got to keep the illusions high.A friend said to me that nobody is going to put out the true numbers.
Right and all these people guessing what a team has or is spending have no clue, but just put that crap out to say relevant. Why would they? It’s the Wild West, got to keep the illusions high.
I understand and certainly tend to agree, but how does a University Athletic Program continue to solicit funds if it is unwilling to share expenditures ?? Just a thought ... ??A friend said to me that nobody is going to put out the true numbers.
Good question.I wonder if Universities can take out insurance policies for injuries, have the insurance pay out part of the contract? Like Lloyds of London that players take out on their own bodies.
I don’t either. Either way I’m ecstatic we are at the top in the NIL pecking order —- as we should be.I don’t believe for one second that we spent 20 million on a roster? That just an absurd number.
To keep other schools from swooping in with a better offer and steal the player. The people signing the check know, the NIL arm of the basketball program, Pope and the player know the figure.I understand and certainly tend to agree, but how does a University Athletic Program continue to solicit funds if it is unwilling to share expenditures ?? I assume disclosure would be after the portal period is closed, but I get your point. To keep other schools from swooping in with a better offer and steal the player. The people signing the check know, the NIL arm of the basketball program, Pope and the player know the figure.
