Did the Bears despise Sherrill more than they do Mullen?

another win in the EB could put him over the top. He would have done something Sherrill never could - put three EB wins together in a row.

as they are now. I know genespage/spirt were around 97-2000 but it's not everywhere like it is now. Also, 97-2000 - both teams were good. Both teams haven't been successful in the same season since 2000. I don't see that changing next season.

The difference is that back during the Kang's halcyon days, the interwebs was less ubiquitous and there was no twitter ****. Seriously, think about the early days of message boards (I'm meaning 1995 or so to 2000). Porn fro's and that weak *** bulldog booster whatever the hell it was. The hatred didn't have the chance to spread and fester like it does now.

Even some of the most reasonable Bears I know just absolutely hate him. He's really gotten under their skin, just like Jackie used to do.

The price of being in the SEC has gone up, both schools are investing much more into their football programs. The new media and social networking sites are amping up the discourse and the general coursening of our culture adds to the perception. However I believe Mullen could pass Sherrill and rather quickly. Mullen has intentionally taken Sherrill's provoking toa new level.
I agree that if we beat them on the field again and win the recruiting battle next year it will be all out Armageddon in the offseason.

( I have to admit I get a kick out of him pissing Ole Miss fans off to no end but Lord help us the day they win the Egg Bowl again.)

hatred for him from several Bear fans that will go unnamed;it went all the way back to family fueds on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. You all know who she is but there was more to that hatred than just Sherill and MSU sports and it drove her and a few others to hire PI's to take him down. I don't think we are near that level with Mullenand hopefully wewon't see it go there.

If we continue to have success on the field you can expect a Fatwa to be leveled on Mullen.

Rebel psychopaths were constantly stalking, libeling & slandering Sherrill.

Mullen has a long way to go before they begin treating him the way they treated Sherrill.

But I didn't pay much attention toMSU before 93 when I started at State. Talking to Bears in my family who don't even follow football closely makes me think Mullen has already hit the 1995 level of hatred for Sherrill and it's rapidly getting worse. I've also noticed a huge increase in the general 'Cow College' type remarks which I thought were a thing of the past. He's certainly struck a deep nerve.

I agree. The OM hatred for Sherrill was personal and I'd guess at certain points Sherrill probably feared for his life a few times.

Those crazy 17ers wanted him dead. Right now the crazy OM fans just want Dan hired away.

A couple more EB wins and Dan might get there but their hatred of Sherrill was a whole different ballgame.

The Bears not only hated Sherrill, but they also didn't respect him. They called him a cheater and said he couldn't win without cheating, etc. And while they certainly are starting to hate Mullen, they seem to respect him somewhat.
That's a pretty good take.

never pat yourself on the back for something was not clever again. And certainly don't ever post "like a record, you've been played" ever again.
