Did Vitello underachieve this year?

Did i miscount or did he have 3 first round, 4 if you count a supplemental pick. 1 that i have seen at the top of the second round. They made a super regional, but they were pretty average SEC wise for the whole year.

Now, they have had a small army hit the portal (mostly pitchers) and I’d say something is wonky at Tenn. They might reset and win it all next season, but this past season wasn’t a good performance, considering what they had.

I lost count. Seems like Tennessee has lost at least six guys already

They won their first 20 games and looked like a real threat to repeat. At the end of the season there was talk they might not even host.

16-14 SEC, hosted and won a Regional, lost in a road Super

I'd call that underachieving, but not as much as his 3 predecessors (especially 2 of them) in their post-championship years.

I think it's fair to say they did underachieve to the talent they evidently had. With the attrition they've had in the portal combined with the amount of players drafted, you have to wonder if things aren't as rosy in Knoxville as they use to be. Maybe it's just normal attrition. Maybe Vitello is overhauling the roster to avoid underachieving again. Maybe the jack *** schtick from him and the program is finally hurting them. I suppose we'll find out come next spring.

I'd say he did. I have thought that his high emotion 'chip-on-the-shoulder' coaching style might not be sustainable.

Lord knows what happened to US immediately after winning a natty.
