<font face="Trebuchet MS">what I have read so far, we are in the same kinda trouble the schools were in that were 'bidding' for Albert Means ... except for the team that paid ... Bama.

</font><p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Trebuchet MS">"Federal prosecutors offered evidence that Lang had tried to "sell" Means to eight schools: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan State University, the University of Mississippi and the University of Tennessee."

Only team that "reported" that Means was for sale was UT ... and that was AFTER Means signed with Bama.

As long as contact was 'initiated' by Cecil, I don't see any real problem, especially since the contact was reported to the SEC.

There are some poor, misguided Auburn fans who want desperately to believe that we offered the Newton's money even though all evidence points towards us saying no when asked if we would pony up.

To repeat an analogy I made the other day, you don't get in trouble because a prostitute asks you if you want to have a good time or if a drug dealer asks if you want to get high. You are only in trouble if you take them up on their offer.

And by all accounts, we said no and then alerted the proper authorities.

Them and Alabama are pretty dirty historically. So we (MSU) will probably get the Death Penalty for this.

The booster contacted the University to report the problem. The University reported to the SEC. The coaches said no to the solicitation. If anything it says our booster and University willnot pay for a player and will report anything improper.

Wetzel is an idiot.

I am concerned about Kenny Rogers' and Bill Bell's contacts with Cecil and Cam. I still don't understand why Kenny Rogers was in Starkville for Cam's campus visit. I can easily see Cecil claiming that they were offering him money, not the other way around.

I'm starting to think this investigation really IS about MSU.We need some proof of Auburn making an offer of payment.

The difference is Auburn has been spending since January to get their **** cleaned up. We are just letting it all hang out. We might of not dotted a I or crossed a t but that's it from the evidence provided so far. Auburn is over in the slippery slope were you get your tally wacker knocked off....

But Kenny Rogers has no credibility at all. We haven't really heard Bell's story, but I don't understand why he had to call John Bond and get him involved. Why couldn't he just call Greg Byrne himself?

I don't think MSU is in big trouble, because I believe Bond properly blew the whistle. But without some incriminating evidence against Auburn, this looks for MSU than them.
