IMHO Nwora should be less selfish on offense. He should wait for good opportunities rather than forcing it. He would be double teamed less if the opposing teams players didn't watch film showing him avoiding assists whenever possible...especially on fast breaks. It seems we will get on a roll and then we get lazy or want personal numbers..... we stop passing to the most open shooter... or we pass to Enoch when he is out of position or deep under the basket and getting crowded... This team will go all the way if they work more as a team and take patient good shots and minimize the me first approach. They have the talent, length, and physicality to win the rest if they just get Nwora straight I believe. He can be the mvp if he stops trying to be and makes his team mates better. A lot more defensive effort by hime wouldnt hurt a bit either... I rewatch the games and it seems to me that over and over he doesnt come over to help, is out of position or is unwilling to do the uncomfortable thing and to take a charge like Sutton etc. will. He could be the fan favorite but it almost seems he is not sold on giving the effort in the minor leagues... college... again .... Mack pulled him at the end of a close game....he is seeing the same thing me thinks...cant get through to him ????

that was for defensive reasons, step away from the cliff.

Well after posting my rant ... I read the headline story ... apparently the writer and coach share some conclusions. Great talent in Nwora... just seeing things that guarantee losses in tournaments if he is subconsciously using this for a practice squad before the draft. I hope someone pulls him aside and is able to bend his thinking to a team 1st attitude. HIs draft stock could go way up.. sorry if I'm hurtin on your man...I just see this as the missing link and just trying to speak what is obvious to most fans I watch with. I thought most of these headline stories were for paid only subscribers having been off the site for awhile... here's the quotes from it...

On top of fighting off a 10-0 Georgia Tech run, Louisville was held without a field goal over the final 5:15 of the game. Chris Mack turned to a pair of his newcomers, calling on David Johnson and Samuell Williamson to play in key possessions with just minutes to go. The bigger story is that Mack sat down Jordan Nwora.

Nwora's struggles continued tonight, as he went 3-of-11 from the field, and wasn't great defensively, either. Mack had seen enough and went with Williamson over Nwora as the game tightened up.

Hard to know what goes on between the ears. Guys have their own way of handling success/failure. I believe he received a death threat after a game?

Maybe he's not "killing it" right now, he can get hot. He's still a young guy in the real world.

Maybe he does have a thought about what's next, most the players do.

making way too much out of this, which is fine...no skin off my back and I think Jordan is ok with it as well. CCM went with a little more physical and longer player in Williamson for the defensive possession...Jordan is not the most physical 3 spot and a rebound was critical in that situation. That's how I see it. Bottom line is, if we can perform with more players (which requires development and in game experience) and get W's; it improves our outlook. That's my take, granted it isn't going to make people read headlines or stoke any wild speculations. call me boring.

The lack of scoring in the last 6 minutes from our stud along with the lack of defensive intensity cause me to question heart power,,, I think he is the dude to pull all this together and make it his team. I’m just not sure he does....

my point is, I don't think this is a heart issue...he's not the only one to struggle occasionally; but as "the dude", any stumble is magnified...I look at other guys that have struggled at times and we don't question their heart, e.g. Ryan, Sutton, Williams...if there is one guy that's drawing some criticism from me it's Enoch, just because he rarely kicks the ball out when he receives in the post and his baby hook (his usual attempt) often is fading from the basket and that just drives me nuts...but that's technique, not heart.

Nwora is still a kid. He’s not a professional. He has high expectations and a lot riding on this season. He’s going through a rough stretch.

You can critique his play, but don’t get personal with the kid. Let’s be encouraging so he can have a big run to end the season!

Think about it his whole goal in life is playing in the NBA. He has put everything into accomplishing that goal. Then really good coaches figure out how to take away the best part of his game. He knows his draft stock is dropping. It is messing with him mentally. He is way off even when he gets clean looks. Really tough spot for him.

His entire game is being a scorer and he doesn’t have the skill set to force the teams defend him differently. He isn’t a good passer, he isn’t quick enough to take smaller guards off the dribble, he is not hard to defend without the ball and he has no post up game. With that said Mack needs to help him in creating sets to get him in better spots to score against smaller defenders.

We can be successful without Nwora actually scoring, or for that matter touching the basketball in our half court offensive sets. He draws a lot of attention from the defense that opens everyone else up. Enoch is the one who worries me ...... he has no elevation, a very little upper body strength. Both he and Jordan need to get their teammates in the offense.

Your point was proven during the Duke game. Nwora scored very little but he had 8 rebounds and 4 assists and we still won. And we dominated during long stretches in the game.
