Didn't Nutt do the same thing with Nebraska 3-4 years ago?

In Fayetteville. It played out like Days of our goddammed lives. It was hilarious to watch living here in Ark.

You would have to be a fool to think that by talking with Kansas you will get another million a year after this year. Hell he did not even know Relf's name at the press conference after the Egg Bowl and said that they did not prepare for him.

You're assuming it would be about money. I don't think that's the case. Nutt's problem, since he arrived, has been Pete Boone. They've tried to do what they can to put an intermediary between the two, but they've butted heads from Day One. What Nutt ones is more freedom to run his program and make decisions on his own. If he leaves, that's what it's going to be about, not money. He won't get much more, if any, at Kansas or anywhere for that matter, because he's not worth much more than we're paying him. What he might get though is an AD that's willing to give him more freedom to run his own program and not pinch pennies at every corner.

You have to understand that Nutt came from a decade of working with Frank Broyles who gave him pretty much everything he needed when he needed it. Boone fights him on everything. That's his biggest problem and has been from the beginning.

If all this is true, how the hell did Boone last so long under Khayat, a guy that seemed to be willing to do whatever needed to be done in order to move Ole Miss forward? Didn't Khayat actually hire Boone twice to be your AD? This could put Dan Jones in a tough situation as a new chancellor.

to get Nutt or anyone for that matter. they just spent some cash on their facility upgrades and the Kansas budget is totally screwed right now. it would be a hard pill for most around here to swallow if they hired someone and put that person in the top five paid nationally. Mangino was top 20 in pay and #1 in fatass.

And that's my point. Kansas wouldn't pay that much more than what they paid Mangino, which is what Nutt is making already.

It's not about money if he is really interested. KU is a basketball school. I can't see them offering a whole lot more, especially for Nutt. As I said, Nutt is already making Top 20 money, and he's not really worth a lot more than what he's making.

I think that if anything it's a power struggle. And yes he and Boone have butted heads constantly. I can't answer why Khayat kept Boone around so long. It could be that he let Boone essentially be the financial guy so that he could really have his hand in the operations of the athletic department. I don't know. Either way, I put Boone only a half step above Larry Templeton when it comes to being a good AD.
