I would probably swing top 15 but definitely not #6! Dang! they're just trying to make the sexy pick of the offseason... crap, herbie picked them at 4 or so right after the season...

Nope, I sure don't think you guys are top 15. No way you replace two first rounders and expect to be just as good. Don't give me Massie this or Sowell that, you don't have another Oher on your team right now. You OL will be worse, your WR will be worse, and your secondary will be worse. You guys are a middle of the pack SEC team with a solid to good QB. Snead is going to have some ups and downs this year without the protection on the OL and the speed at WR. Worst case you go 7-5 best case 9-3.

dawgfan77, I will make a bet right here, right now for $50 (all I can afford.......economyku) that Ole Miss will finish the season ranked 15 or higher, in any poll.

Hope you enjoy it. This is your "Rosebowl" season. However unlike MSU who had just one Reve Stoberson predicting national prominence, you have the support of regional and national talking heads which will make the crash even funnier to witness. Anything short of a trip to Atlanta and 9 wins or more is a major flop.

I know that none of the prognosticators mean much, but doesn't it carry just a little bit more weight when coming from unbiased national pundits than when it comes from your own scout board moderator?

We may crash and burn, but so far the team hasn't shown the signs of a crash and burn team. 1) We have a defense, and 2) the hype doesn't seem to have affected their work ethic. If anything they've picked it up a notch this off-season.

except that instead of some fat *** in Mooreville claiming we are going to the Rose Bowl we have national media calling for us to challenge for the West and be a top 10 team. Oh yeah....and we aren't planning on relying on 5 players from Arizona Western JUCO to come in and start.

Other than that...it is exactly the same.

Looks like they picked you to win the West. So, yes, 9 wins would be a flop.

...5-3 will win the west, since mississippi's out of conference schedule is among the worst in the country and all but guarantees 4 wins. I think it will take better than 5-3 to win the west this year.

If you don't achieve what they expect you too, your team is a bust.

I don't care what Kirk Herbstreet, Sports Illustrated, or Yancy Porter says, a nine win season is never a flop. We went winless in conference play two years ago and I'm suppossed to believe that we're going to be a bust if we win nine games? Who are we, USC?

be good, yet also call it a flop when it happens? Both are not logically possible. If we have these holes at WR, OL, etc. then 9 wins is not a flop.

sometimes i try to fool myself that you have rational moments and aren't completely floating in koolaid 24/7 but then you type up fluff like this

2) the hype doesn't seem to have affected their work ethic. If anything they've picked it up a notch this off-season.
don't you know that every team is working harder today than they ever have before? it's all a bunch of crap. hell look at the time when Croom arrived, a lot of people were claiming that players were quitting or being booted off of the team because the new sherrif in town was running them to death and those who didn't want to work were gone. we all know croom wasn't doing that. now Mullen has arrived and people are saying the same things.

i seriously doubt they have picked it up much at all this offseason. the core of the team is still intact and you have the same staff. and the best part for you is that it doesn't matter much if they have picked it up much or not. as long as they aren't slacking it doesn't matter because whatever they did last offseason caused me to binge on leftover turkey and then go out and murder a helpless woodland creature.
