that they are waiting on Disney to accept their offer to carry the SEC Network. When I asked the person I was talking to give me more detail, she said that all she could tell me was that they were waiting on Disney to accept their offer.

What is she talking about?

They have 16 more days to reach an agreement.

I meant......

does anyone know what their offer to Disney could be and why Disney would not be accepting it?

I have the feeling that Direct TV is the one playing hardball and they are trying to make Disney out to be the bad guy.

So basically she told you what they have been saying for weeks. We are still negotiating a deal.

Yes, but..............

this is the first time anyone at Direct TV has told me that they have made an offer and Disney is basically the hold up.

What she's saying is that DirectTV has offered to pay a lower amount than the SECN is charging, and SECN hasn't accepted it. In other words, they're trying to play hardball. We'll see how that works out for them if they continue too much further with other options out there for their customers.

Directv made an offer for the weather channel recently that ended with the channel being dropped for months.

This is a bigger negotiation for Directv than most carriers. Their ESPN contract ends in Sept. Their probably negotiating the whole ESPN family of channels including the SEC Network and internet ESPN3 access. I doubt they would work out a deal for the SEC Network only and then turn around and negotiate the ESPN contract a few days/weeks later.

If the whole lineup is on the line, that gives espn even more leverage. DTV will lose their asses if they go even one day without the whole espn family of networks...

Yes ESPN has the leverage and DTV has the money. In my opinion the deal will get done because going without ESPN/Disney family of channels is not an option. The question is will it gone done before the launch of the SEC Network or will it come down to a last minute deal when the ESPN/Disney contract is about to expire. Who knows your guess is as good as mine.

This whole issue is why, after 11 years, my Directv experience officially ends on 8/1/14. Hello, Dish!

If you chose Dish solely for that reason, then you made a mistake. They are the masters of dropping channels over contract disputes. Dish was ahead of the game THIS time, but they usually aren't.

So is Directv with the channel dropping. That said, I still really like Directv (great customer service for me), but I have a chance to upgrade technology and drop my bill $35-$40 a month for a while, so I'm on board.

All good and well, but you probably could have gotten the same deal from DirecTV. Had a friend recently switch from Dish to Direc and he likes it a lot better. Not sure what the difference is. I will say DirecTV with the genie blows cable away.

If you plan on staying with Directv until this deal gets done. Now is the time to use your leverage. Call in & ask when your contract is up and they will transfer you to retention. Tell them your considering going to Dish so you can get the SEC Network. They will offer you a deal. Tell them Free NFL Sunday Ticket might ease the pain of not having the SEC Network or get some equipment upgrades.

FYI, if you have CSPIRE and will be receiving the fiber 1 in you're area you can also sign up for their TV service which is going to carry the SEC network. It's suppose to be available within the next few weeks. Also if you bundle your internet and TV the cost is $140 and if you have their cell service it will be discounted another $10. Might want to check their web site to see if it will be in your area.

I had thought of doing that, WrapItDog, as I have been out of contract for maybe 5 years and I have had Directv for over 15 years. My problem is if for some unforeseen reason, Directv pulls another of those "The Weather Channel episodes" , then I've signed a two year contract and then I'm screwed on the SEC Network until Directv and Disney reach an agreement. I have been waiting on UVerse for about three years since they got in the area, but that doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen here.

After looking into possibly changing from directv to Uverse I said no thanks. They couldn't guarantee my internet speed would be effected because of my phone line quality and I would be limited on the number of programs I could record at the same time because of speed issues. I think it's a good product but it's just not going to work at my house.

How are they going to do this -- when outside of Sunday Ticket -- uVerse is already better?

Bc dtv has awesome customer support and at&t is as bad as comcast. Terrible customer support and nobosy you talk to speaks english
And can do nothing to fix the problem. You have to tweet, facebook,
Etc just to get anyone that can do anything to call you.

All depends on who you talk to. I've had excellent luck with Uverse specific customer service. Even got the personal cell number of my site tech after I twice had them unplug me/knock me loose at the crossbox and forget to reattach my line. The main complaint I have about uVerse is that they "test the emergency system" way more often than the "required weekly test".

Had bad luck with DirecTV toward the end and especially when trying to cancel after I switched to UVerse, although they were good for years.

Directv expects to offer SEC Network soon per Clay Travis Outkick the Coverage

The SEC Network is set for one of the most successful sports network launches in history now that DirecTV, the nation's largest satellite company, emailed Outkick that the company is "quite hopeful" and "expects to be able to provide the network soon." The public comments of DirecTV square with the private comments of SEC and ESPN executives, who are confident that a deal is near as well. DirecTV, which has over twenty million satellite subscribers, carries the Big Ten Network, but does not carry the Pac 12 Network The satellite company has, at times, engaged in contentious negotiations with content providers in an effort to keep costs lower. Its primary competitor in the satellite arena, Dish Network, became the first national satellite company to sign on for the network several months ago.

DirecTV's negotiations with the SEC Network are part of a larger negotiation with the other ESPN networks, and while it is unclear exactly when those deals will all be finalized, it's a significant pick-up for the SEC Network and SEC fans across the country, especially for those fans who hadn't wanted to go through the hassle of changing providers. In conjunction with Outkick's previous report that Comcast and the SEC Network are near an agreement, this would mean that every major cable and satellite company -- excluding Time Warner, which has remained fairly quiet so far -- would carry the SEC Network, allowing ESPN and the SEC to hit their goal of roughly 75 million cable and satellite subscribers at launch.

It's gonna be bad, don't ya know

If they don't work it out. Which I have no doubt they will, AND I hope they do.

Because, If they don't, I'm with CableOne, and will need a place to go....

I prefer Direct TV.

BUT....
