That the SEC network is an important new network.

Multiple media people in the Twitter world expect an official announcement today.

It will be on the regular tier. No premium tier ********. The SEC & ESPN have been adamant about that from the beginning.

I was told by the Directv retention rep that from the emails they received, it would be $2 premiums if you live inside the SEC network and $10 if you live outside the SEC.

Hopefully one of the things they've worked out is for DirecTv to be listed as a Provider on the WatchESPN app.

That doesn't make sense. Cable distributors will have to pay $1.30 (per month) to ESPN for each subscriber of the SEC Network within SEC states. Outside of SEC states, the fee drops to $.25 per subscriber.

All being done as part of this deal.

Disney's entire contract with directv expires Sept 30 this year. So, they've got a ridiculous amount of leverage to strongarm the SEC Network along with all streaming options onto DTV. Wouldn't be surprised if the actual hang up is more over the LHN as part of the overall package than any of this other stuff....

I'm not sure how it works but it would seem that the average subscriber in the SEC states would perceive it to be a value at $1.30 while those outside the SEC may not be nearly as interested. It seems that the demand would be much lower outside of the SEC. I've got a friend in Wisconsin who is a Badger fan. He said that he wouldn't pay anything for the SEC network but he's a huge college football fan. Oddly, the SEC isn't nearly as popular or nearly as respected in the rest of the country and I suspect that the hate for the SEC would leave some fans with the attitude that they wouldn't support our network if it was $.02 a month in much the same way as some of our fans won't buy a ticket to the egg bowl if it's played at TSUN. I wouldn't pay for the Big 10 network or the ACC network or any other network not because I'm not interested in those teams but because I'm not interested enough to pay a dime for it.

No, it still doesn't. If it isn't as demanded out of market -- that's why it's cheaper. And it's getting forced on everyone because it's paired with ESPN and ESPN basically IS the only thing holding together traditional cable as we know it...

The SEC is still watched at a 40% higher clip than anyone else... Anyone that "wouldn't pay anything for the SECNetwork" is not a "huge college football fan". Sorry -- the entire college football world is tuning in on Thursday for aTm vs SC. Everyone will want to see that game that really cares about college football, both because it's the first big game, and because it's the SEC with a team expected to compete for a title vs what may be the sexiest team in America right now...

National Cable Television Co-op reached an agreement yesterday and they were in the same position as Directv negotiating the whole ESPN/Disney contract/SEC Network. So a market price has been set. This may lead to a deal soon for Directv.

As part of the new multi-year deal, the NCTC will introduce several new services, including the full suite of authenticated WATCH and video-on-demand products, Fusion, the upcoming SEC Network at launch on August 14, Longhorn Network beginning with the 2014-15 college football season, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater and ESPN Bases Loaded. Services that will continue to be covered by the broad scope of this agreement include: ABC Family, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, ESPNEWS, ESPN Classic and ESPN3.

Directv rumor is they are making preparation to have the SEC Network on Ch 611, Long Horn Network on Ch 609, and Fusion Network on Ch 358. The rumor may have legs since Ch 358 was a paid infomercial channel earlier in the week and now it's no longer on the air or in the guide. SEC Network will begin channel testing on Thur. 8/7.
