When 80 comes into Montgomery you get on 65 north for about three minutes to get to 85. Also, grab 80 at exit 1 in Alabama, not anywhere in Mississippi. It's just past the rest stop at the state line.

It is a lot more 4 lane than it used to be. But, there are still stretches of 2 lane, or there was in Summer of 08 when I had to go there. Not a bad trip; don't be fooled in thinking you are almost there when you hit Montgomery.

The primary two lane is from where you hit 80 at Exit 1 into Demopolis. There is another stretch from Demopolis to Uniontown but I think from there to Montgomery is all four lane.

Some people have talked about 82. There are long stretches of two lane on 82 as well from Centerville to Prattville. 82 from Ttown to Centerville is great though.

Others say 20 to JAckson and down 65. I would only do that with a gun to my head because to me, 65 from Bham to Montgomery is the longest ~75 miles in the world. It seems like it takes five hours.
