and the refs did call it on the wrong player (RT), but the RG took off downfield like a dubmass (call was correct).

I think refereeing has been pathetic all year in every game I've watched so far. Our O-Line was holding on for dear life most of the Vandy game and it never got called. But they missed calls on Vandy too. It's just been bad all around.

Did no one watch our game with LSU last year?

They covered it. If a returner waves his hands like Green did with a ball that hits the ground, it's considered the same as a normal fair catch signal over your head when the ball is in the air.

You can't pick it up and run after doing what Green did. Trindon Holliday tried to pick it up and run and got the same call last year against us.

Your returner's hand never came close to going above his shoulder. Bad call, but no effect on the game.

After the ball hits the ground, if the return man waves his hands in the motion Green did, it's considered a fair catch signal and the return guy can't run it.

They called the same penalty on Holliday last year. The announcers were screaming about it being bogus, but then one of the SEC officials in the booth came by and explained to them that it's the right call.

You can't wave off your players like that after the ball is on the ground and then pick it up and run. It's illegal.

the signal.
RULE 2-7 / DEFINITIONS FR-47
d. If the receiver shades his eyes from the sun, the ball is live and may be
advanced.

I think it falls under Article 3. They said "Invalid Signal" in the LSU game last year and the game tonight.

Basically, its' a motion that's not a valid fair catch signal, and you can't run with the ball after making it.

I highly doubt the officials made the same call last year in our LSU game and this year in the South Carolina game on pure accident. And I highly doubt an official in the booth at the LSU game last year would've made up a rule to tell the announcers to explain that the official made the right call.
