For those of you that live in/near the Golden Triangle area and would be interested, the SBCA is having a chainsaw certification class this Saturday at Woodland Baptist Church in Columbus at 8:00AM. Great opportunity to be able to go into places like Louisville and help people start the process of getting back on their feet after the next natural disaster. There is a small fee ($7.00 I think) for a background check. They're looking for as many volunteers as they can get. If interested, let me know and I can forward you the contact information.

Took care of this big oak yesterday in Tupelo. The guy that cut it said it was over 200 years old. Real healthy tree not a bit of rot in trunk. In the 3rd picture you can see a little bit of the next door neighbors totaled house underneath the left side of the tree.

This is great info. Question: what would be a good resource to find something similar in my neck of the swamp (Nola)? I'd like to do something like this

I found out about it from an email from my church. If I were trying to find out what organizations were out there I would contact your local / state Emergency Management Agency, Red Cross, etc. The group I am talking about in my original thread is from the Southern Baptist Convention. You could see if the local SBC there has a disaster response team. I have a feeling being in NOLA they will due to the hurricane threat.
