I can obviously get on board with the concept that several of the program's current struggles are related to that fact, but it's hard for me to agree that the existing utter disinterest in men's basketball is entirely due to Stansbury being here one year longer than he should have been. You could argue that cutting ties with him earlier would have given the current head coach an extra year on the job, it hopefully would have saved us a year of embarrassment from Sid, and we may have been able to hold on to Hood, but at the same time... we might not have Sword, Ware, or Thomas right now. Also, after a year and a half on the job, I still haven't seen much improvement from Ray on the recruiting front or in our play so far this year, so I'm not entirely sure what the extra year would have accomplished at this point. Maybe we'd have a different, more qualified coach... I don't know.
Anyway, I was heavily inebriated last night while watching football, so this thread just felt like a good time to give a shout out my boy, C34. Not trying to rehash prior debates.
