Obama isn't going to win the war on terror or defeat the Islamic State. And here's a news flash: neither is the next president, or the one after that, or the one after that. The best anyone can say is that there have not been any attacks like 9/11 or Paris or Brussels or Yemen or Cote d'Ivoire.
The reason for using Daesh is not necessarily as an insult (although ISIS supposedly hates it) it's that using the term ISIS lends legitimacy to their claim of being their own entity.
They are what they are. You could call them Bob and it wouldn't change what they are, but that's the reason for using Daesh and not ISIS.
I can only imagine that ISIS is going to retaliate with: I am rubber you are glue. What you say bounces off of me and sticks to you.
He is using the technology available to him while using a strategy that places less troops at risk, unlike his predecessor. He is using drones. He (we/ the USA) is pretty effective at it I might add.

I would say it's pretty effective since they get pissed at a simple cartoon image of Mohamed.

As I have previously stated, I'm in agreement with Obama's plan for dealing with this. It is having an affect, it won't solve the issue though. This will continue and it will continue for a while and eventually require a larger presence. Which I'm fine with. I disagreed with us pulling out in the first place. We are slowly ramping up more and more back into the region.
