And smart too. We had several classes together.

On the picture ... the amount of talent we had on some of our teams is amazing. It makes you wonder what Mullen will do once he gets the talent here.

Super nice guy and could also throw some serious cheese as a left handed pitcher. At Tupelo, three of the starting pitchers were Long, Todd Jordan, and Russell Copeland

Yep. Surprisingly, Jordan's fast ball was the least of the three from what I remember.

Long could knock the cover off the baseball too. He hit one night vs us that probably still hasn't landed. I played 1b and he was a left handed batter. I heard it go over my head but did not see it until I turned to watch it disappear into the darkness of night.

I know some of those '92 jr's and sr's on that page may have been JUCO's, but most of them were Rockey's recruits. Sherrill inherited some good OL, DL, and LBs.

except for Johnny Curtis would start over the current starter at their position. Every one. And Curtis was part of the package that brought in Melvin Hayes and Scott Gumina.

during an all-star batting practice in Gautier....he was on the 9-10 team...i was on the 11-12 team....

I told him that i woulda kicked his *** if he was older.

even when we ran into one another @ state we laughed about that **** (him letting me live, but me talkin ****). I swear to god he was 200 lbs as a 9-10 year old.

Also, i juked him on a kick off return in pee-wee and took it to the house....he body slammed me after i had scored and given the ball to the ref. I'll never forget richard harvey (tulane 86-87ish,saints,bills, raiders et al) picking me up and carrying me to my mom.

That ************(KJ) had a nasty mean streak like you've never seen......good thing he liked me.

that Rockey called to run the ball 7 straight times to start the Tennessee game? I may be thinking of somebody else. By the way, it wasn't a good thing, I think he got like 5 yds on the 7 carries whoever it was. We lost big and it was hot as hell are the only other things I remember about that game.

It was Galloway.

It felt like 37 times in a row and it was hotter than two hells.....

...and he didnt' deserve it at all. From what I heard, the spring and fall before, Tony Shell was running a four-wide, run-and-shoot offense that had the players excited and pumped about the season. Then, on opening day, Rockey lost his nerve and decided to ground out a running game, with 175 lb. Galloway straight up the middle for about 12 straight carries.

Actually, Galloway was a pretty good back who did do well in spots in the ensuing years. However, I chose Galloway as my "Player to Irrationally Hate" for that year (formerly known as the "John Bond Trophy", later named "The Tommy Kelly Award"). I blame Rockey, and Felker needs to be as far away from actually running anything football-related as possible...he needs to stick to playing golf with Cigar-boys and telling stories about the 98 yard drive against Memphis State.
