@sixpackspeak: From UGA/MSU 2006. Same drive. 4th and 1 at UGA 41 - Anthony Dixon rush for 4 yards to the UGA 37.
4th and 3 at UGA 30 - McAdams punt.

UGA was so shocked they actually called a timeout.

Oh I remember that one well. Croom & McCorvey will probably hold the SEC ineptitude crown for quite some time. I feel sorry for all of our players in that era who had talent and could have been potential All-Americans with an even mediocre team.

Didn't we do something very similar against Ga Tech as well? I was at that game and remember just foaming at the mouth mad about some idiotic call.

I was sitting

in the stands for that game in total shock and disbelief. I honest to God thought it was a joke.

And didn't we lose that game by 3? How do you not even try?

I get that Adam Carlson wasn't a good kicker (minus the 2007 Egg Bowl), but you've gotta at least go for it even if you don't trust your kicker.

We probably punted it in the end zone for a touchback anyway***

Carlson was a good kicker until we screwed him up

Sound familiar?

The Croom era in a nutshell. The guy just had no clue what he was doing.

As both of those plays happened,

I remember disagreeing with BOTH calls. I believe it was a scoreless game or close game at the time. We had a pretty good D and the West Croom offense. Both decisions were bad decisions.

Twitter conversation that made me look up that drive. Thought I would share it again.

Yes. This is when I 100% gave up on Croom.

We were already down 21-0 in the 1st quarter. 2nd down ball on the 4 yard line. Run the ball to the 1, but GA Tech player was offsides. Croom declines the penalty and passed 2nd and 2 from the 2 to take 3rd and goal from the 1. Stuffed on 3rd down. Field goal blocked on 4th. I am so so glad he's gone.

Yea we couldn't score three times on a turnover inside the 5, then on 4th and goal from the 1, we shank a FG.

I was present at the game, and it was THIS one that I was most embarrassed to be a State fan. And I was at the Maine, and the 3-2 game the week before.

Didn't Pegues or Culberson return a fumble for a TD that was called back?

Sometimes, it's a wonder that he made it through 5 seasons as a head coach here, and it's downright frightening that he was a decent showing in Oxford away from most likely being given a 6th.
