Disclaimer: I like conspiracy theories. And Wikipedia is not the most credible information site around. I did other searches and some of this stuff checked out. So flame away if you wish but this is rather interesting-

Wikipedia has this info of the former Pennsylvania District Attorney (Gricar)who just happened to go missing in 2005 and was never found...

The DA's district happens to encompassPenn State University. Gricar had been the DAsince 1985 and had stated he would not seek reelection. Gricar's laptop went missing also. A week after his body was found in a river (interestly enough his own brother's body was found in same river after an appearent suicide) his laptop's hardrive was recovered on the bank of the river just a few yards away. No federal agency could restore the data from the drive..

NPR pubished a timeline of events which indicates not much activity with the scandal from 2002 through 2009.

How far would people go to protect thier favorite institution? Or themselves?

Ray Frank Gricar (pronounced /??ri?k?r/; born October 9, 1945, missing April 15, 2005, declared legally dead July 25, 2011) is a missing person from Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, United States. At the time of his disappearance on April 15, 2005, he was the district attorney of Centre County, a post he had held since 1985 and which he had been planning to retire from later that year.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Gricar received his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and began his career as a prosecutor for Cuyahoga County. He moved to State College, Pennsylvania around 1980 and after a brief stint as an assistant district attorney, Gricar was elected district attorney of Centre County in 1985. He was re-elected four times before announcing that he would not run for re-election in the 2005 campaign.

Gricar was reported missing to authorities after failing to return home from a road trip. His car was found in Lewisburg with his cell phone inside, and his laptop computer was found in the adjacent Susquehanna River; other than that, very little trace of Gricar has been found. After being missing for over six years with no trace of his whereabouts, Centre County authorities declared Gricar legally dead on July 25, 2011.

His own computer at his house contained a history of internet search phrases like "how to wreck a hard drive". Kinda discredits conspiracy theories. Unless the conspirator was ballsy enough to set that up too.

That query would take an unispired investigatordown the path that Gricar intended to kill himself and destroy the data himself. It is very convienent don't you think?

All accounts were that this Gricar was a hard charging prosecutor. A crusader of sorts. When I was an undergrad, I interned under such a prosecutor.

Why destroy data if you are going to kill yourself? Why would you care? You are dead. Who are you willing to plot out your own death for and plan it so you erase data on a hard drive?

It does not make sense.

The more important question iswho would be hurt with the data kept onthat hard drive.

A salient point. A common thread among suicides is the making of a statement, not avoiding the making of a statement.

My point was a murderer would have to go awful far to setup his computer with evidence suicidal thoughts or at lease self-directed action.

something drove him to it. Maybe he couldn't live with caving in to pressure and not prosecuting a case he knew in his heart he should have.

I think the Governor may have some interest in this. He was the Attorney General and knew of this case for sure.

How could suicide even be a possibility? They never found a body. His *** is with Jimmy Hoffa somewhere! I have a friend that was living there when all this was taking place. He said then that it just had to be something to it. No way Gricar just went missing.

We're looking at a future 30 for 30 episode happening before our eyes!!!

Seriously, if the rumor about Sandusky pimping kids to rich donors is true, then look no further. Seriously, if a few powerful, rich, old, white businessmen with families, status - pillar of the community types- the type of men who generally are the wealthy donors to collegiate athletic programs are about to get exposed for diddling ten-year-olds, they would off him in a heartbeat.

Which is why they won't get anything about that out of Sandusky. He doesn't wanna get shanked while up-state.

This brings us back to McQueary. I've said in other threads, he could be covered under the whistleblower law, but if he's not then the Attorney General would want him to cooperate which could actually be the reason why that piece of **** didn't lose his job alongwith old **** bag Joe.

my thoughts are this. He is either being protected by PSU or he is being protected by the AG's office. Either PSU doesn't want him telling all that he knows OR the AGs office DOES want him to tell all he knows. Basically, I think it could be either. but, McQueary will definitely protect himself from prosecution

How in the hell would McQuery be covered under any whistleblower act? He didn't blow the whistle on anything. If he had, this **** would have come to an end 9 years ago.
