District times, sites, assignments and qualifying procedures listed below.
CLASS A
The are four districts in Class A. All Class A district meets will be held on Tuesday, May 12th.
In the individual running events, the top four finishers in each district meet will automatically qualify for the state track meet, plus the next EIGHT fastest times of the non-qualifiers , regardless of place in a FINALS event for a maximum of 24 individual state qualifiers. If there is a tie for the final auto-qualifying spot, all those tied will qualify. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot among the non-auto qualifiers, the tie will be broken by comparing time to the thousandths of a second. If a tie still exists among the non auto qualifiers in time to the thousandth of a second, then none of those tied shall qualify. (In events with prelims/finals -- 100, 200, 100 HH, 110 HH -- the additional qualifiers will come from the finals, not the preliminaries.
In the relay races, the top three finishers in each district meet will automatically qualify for state, along with the next four fastest relay teams from across all the non-qualifiers for a total of 16 qualified relay teams.
In the field events, the top four finishers will automatically qualify for state. Also, in shot put, discus, long jump and triple jump, the next eight best performances from across all district meets from the non qualifiers will also qualify for state. In the high jump and pole vault, the top four finishers qualify for state, along with all athletes who meet or exceed the automatic qualifying standard. Those standards are:
Pole Vault: 13' 0" (Boys) | 10' 4" (Girls)
High Jump: 6' 2" (Boys) | 5' 2" (Girls)
Additionally, boys must clear a minimum of 9' 6" and girls a minimum of 6' 6" in the pole vault to qualify for state.
*** In the event the FAT timing system would fail in any district in any running event, any individual running event would qualify the top 6 places and any relay event would qualify the top 4 places. This would pertain only to those events where the FAT failed. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying spot in this scenario, none of those tied shall qualify in that event.
