Guys I have heard from one of my good friends who works for the UAB athletic program that we are losing another part of our suckish offensive line, in DJ LOONEY, who will be transferring to UAB.

I really don't understand why anyone would immediately transfer unless they look around in practice and realize they simply aren't as good as some other folks and if they want to play they've got to go elsewhere.

That's what I would guess happened with Wes - I think he liked it hear, but was probably going to be behind Lee and knows everyone is hot to trot for Russell and knew that there was probably a 90% chance he doesn't get a lot of PT unless injuries hit. And while he liked the school, he understands he's not going to be playing in the NFL and would rather transfer somewhere and play than sit the pine. I can respect that.

1. We need all the help we can get on OL, so this is bad news.
2. If he couldn't crack the starting lineup on this year's team, how could he possibly help us in the future.

I do hate to see him go, but I doubt it's going to be a huge loss unless we have a lot of injuries next year. And I agree with Irondawg, most players who would transfer out now probably know they can't play in the SEC. In fact, I've always thought that teams are almost always as good or better off after a player transfers out than before.
