Do most State fans still believe that Robert Elliot can be a Premier RB?

Serious question? I just have always thought he was a bit overrated, and while I do think State's RB group is very talented, I don't really include Elliot. Not a flame. just curious to see where most fans sit with him.

we've seen enough of him to be sure of how good he is. He hasn't played a whole lot since the Vandy game. That being said, he'll probably have to fight for carries again next year. Montrell Conner and LaDarius Perkins will be coming off of redshirt seasons, not to mention Vick Ballard coming in.

Dixon right now is a premier back, Ducre is a very good back, Stallworth hasn't looked the same as last year. I don't know how much the knee injuries have affected Stallworth and Elliot. Both look slower now.

And I think next year I'm gonna miss A Dixon a hella lot more than I thought I would earlier this year or at any point the last 3 years.

He's supposedly still one of the fastest guys on the team. He has to quit dropping the ball, though.

He's looked pretty good at times when given the opportunity. I think he plays a lot this weekend.

cosmic karma requires that he somehow be involved in plunging a dagger through Mississippi's heart in an egg bowl before he leaves. Maybe Brad Lott can scream racial epithets at him.

No way to tell until he gets a shot at the role but I think he has the talent to be premier and has shown a lot with his recovery from the injury and the immense work he has done in the weightroom in his 2 years at state. IMO the biggest thing we have to see him do is run thru the line and be used on the trap plays we are running a lot of this year, he seems to always want to bounce it outside with kind of a HS mentality but that can hopefully be changed. His style is kind of odd since he is kind of tall almost like a Chris Brown or Eric Dickerson (but obviously not on their level at this point) as he is so vertical and I think he is discounted because of that but he sure has some talent.

But, I think he has the chance to be a pretty good one if he works on his hands (catching and fumbling). He has been hit or miss this season, but I guess that's expected considering he's coming off major knee surgery. At times you see his speed and ability to make plays up the field, and other times he's very tentative. Jury is still out. If he stays healthy going into next season and with Mullen using him effectively, Elliot could turn out to be a very good player for us.

I have not seen him cut hard on a single run this year. That being said I still think that he can be very good in the open field.

Reggie Bush with the Saints (note I'm not saying Reggie Bush at USC)

He has speed and quickness to be dangerous but can do anything between the tackles. The only time you see him do anything productive is on end arounds, reverses, sweeps, and screens. And I'd say 50 % of the time he ends up with a loss. The best he looked was in mop up duty at the end of games. I still say we should utilize him as a receiver. Give him bubble screens and short yardage passes with the chance to make someone miss. That is his only chance to be truly successful in my opinion.

Of course, he must be tearing it up in practice or something to continue to get that much attention there with the stable of running backs we have but lack of good receivers. Which may say more about our defense than anything else

Bumphis, heavans, or whomever our best, fastest player is al a Percy Harvin @ Florida. Conner will get some snaps im sure. Then there are the new recruits. Robert Elliot will get his carries as well. I just dont know how many unless he improves tremendously. I will give him props on the special teams TD against Auburn.
