First - Ain't no gas left in the tank boys. Was in Nashville for all our games and we left it all on the court

Second - Dee is hurt

Third - This is JSU's Final 4, Super Bowl, World Series, etc...all wrap in one

Fourth - Playing for PRIDE( the Dawgs did that yesterday) Tuesday night it will be JSU...and

as the saying goes "Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it"

I was at this train wreck also, 1979- Alcorn St 80 MSU 78

ps - for you youngsters, same setup, Dawgs thought they were going to the Big Dance. Oh by the way, we also had Ricky Brown & Wiley Peck!

are all out for the game, we cruise. It doesn't matter if we don't care, Jackson State sucks that bad. RPI 199. Right in between Montana State and the Citadel. For reference, Rider finished at 139.

1999 nit first round (the socks year)
heck... i'd even throw 1992 eastern michigan in there. i know i was disappointed when we beat shaq/ls-who and turned up as a 5th seed.

After playing 125 tough minutes in less than 48 hours this weekend, we should have gotten a Wednesday game. I expect our team to be tired and flat, but still should have enough to beat JSU by double digits. There's no comparision between this and the 1979 game. The transition of the top black athletes from the SWAC to the SEC still hadn't been completed by then. They had a couple of players on that team that went on to long NBA careers. That Alcorn team would beat this year's JSU team by 30.

Yes you are correct, Patdog,ASU had Eddie Archie @ pt guard(runner up MsPlayer ofYr) Michael Phelps @ forward(Player ofYr...and Larry Smith, led NBA in rebounding for years)
Yes, we are much more talented, but I still say emotion(or lack of) couldseal our fate on Tues night.

...beats MSU Tuesday night?

Okay. Since you have asked me to not be shocked if JSU beats MSU in basketball, then I am not going to be shocked if that happens.

I'll just quietly shrug it off & turn my full attention to Cohenball.

JSU is no happier about this than we are. 17-1 in the SWAC then they lay a large egg in the quarterfinals. They should be playing this Thursday and they know it.

They will be fresher, no doubt. I think the game will be close for a half then our talent will pull away.

That is ridiculus to think we won't beat them. Hell, we should win the GD NIT. If anything, we are at least the state champions. Go ahead and print the T-shirts.

Riley, Romero, Wendell, Phil and Reik would beat them by 10 or more. We will beat them by 25+. We will be favored by 20+.

Can't even compare the 1979 game. SWAC teams were much different talent wise then than they are now. Larry Smith, who spent a long time in the NBA was on that team.
