Realize he is 5-4 this year with some real bad losses, was a complete disaster at Michigan in which they that program is just now recovering from and has only had marginal success at his second stop being Arizona? I loved WVU football when he was here but until Pat White, Steve Slaton, Owen Schmidt, RR was not a success even at our school.

Can we for once kill the "Bring back RR crap"? He isn't the coach he thinks he is and he was the one that threw our entire state under the rug. He is scum and not welcomed by the large majority of WVU fans. Especially the ones that are born and bred in the state.

In the minds is some, Rod is like that hot chick you dated in college, that was way out of your league so she dumped you for some stud.

I guarantee that every year we have a crappy season from here on, Rod will be at the center of this board discussion.

I know that will always be the case. There will always be some in almost every topic that just don't get it. But damn for those reasonable individuals which I would like to think I am part of with at least this subject, discussing the subject of the football program is an important subject and this RR nonsense is just tiring.

RichRod was the average looking girl, who was a total ***** and treated you like garbage, but was above average in the sack. Holgorsen is the awful looking girl, who is a total *****, and dumb as a rock, who just lies there and takes it in bed. I would hope we could do better than either -- especially since we are getting a lot more money in the Big 12. I really don't want to see the Casteel full game prevent, back in Morgantown. That defense would be shredded even worse, in the Big 12...

I'd rather go 0-12 every year than have RR coaching WVU football. Some things are more important than winning football games and not kissing someones rear end after they treated you like garbage is one of them.

I can't believe some are willing to overlook how underhanded he treated the University and how he and Michigan sought to financially harm the University.

He's an average coach who **** on our alma mater and doesn't deserve the time of day from us.

Not to mention the top half of the league defecting to the ACC the year before Rod's big "run". If you'll recall, perennial cellar dweller Rutgers was undefeated in conference the first year of the "New Big East", before they ran into WVU that season. White was dinged up, so a true freshman by the name of Jarrett Brown had his redshirt burned to bring the Guido juggernaut to it's knees.

I enjoyed the BCS games and the attention, but the in-conference schedule after '05 was a joke, and everyone knew it.

In no way would I prefer RichRod back, but I think it's pretty clear that barring us winning out (which would be great), we're going to have to go in a different direction next year.

If Whit hires Rich to go to VT, hilarity will ensue on these boards.

No fan, I repeat NO FAN, would every utter those words "I'd rather go 0-12". Sorry. That was one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read.

As for Rich Rod, I'd take him back. Just think, thousands of marriages end up in divorce....but a percentage of those couples get back together and make it work. Why not give it another try?

You can say White and Slaton created Rich Rod. But you could also say that Rich Rod's offense made and created Pat and Steve. Couldn't you? Or does it only work one way, the way that disrespects Rich Rod?

I'm a fan of college football but I'm a fan of basic human decency even more. If all RR had done was left WVU for UM then I'd definitely take him back now. But in addition he also had his lackeys smear WVU to the maximum extent possible in an effort to avoid paying money that he knew he owed. He burned his bridges because he thought he'd never have to cross them again.

If you'd take RR back now after what he did to WVU then the question becomes, what would RR have to do for you to NOT take him back?

Total disagreement. Not only do i agree with op and the 0-12 comment, i rather have the WVU give up football altogether. And i assure you i am a sports fanatic on top of bleeding gold and blue. This isn't a divorce

No, you can't. At least not realistically.

Recognizing how to utilize your talent is a part of the battle, but to have the talent in the first place is the biggest battle. Players make coaches, and adjusting your "scheme" around talent isn't that difficult. I can scheme 5 wide patterns all day, but if I have a bunch of slow white farmer boys, it's not going to go anywhere.

I thought that too until this morning on the ride in to work. The ACC 'Insider' seems to think if that were true he would have been named coach in waiting at Beamers press conference. He also brought up RR and whats his face at UT (Kelly I think). Both of those due to existing relationships.

I hope he does go to VT maybe that program will slide even further.

Who would take the AD job if PrickRod is allowed to come back. He drove Eddie to drink while he was attempting to maintain a straight program. The RR would be a tough cat to clean after if he knows that WVU NEEDS him to have a football program. I would prefer to play in the state conference with a woman basketball coach at the helm. I honestly do not want him back. Burned too many bridges on way out. If he would have gone to Michigan for the opportunity and money, I would not ***** at a man attempting to improve his lot. That is not a fair description of the way he left our program.

Complete nonsense. DickRod is way down on any list I have, but the program and players are bigger than one man. Get over yourself. I'd root for WVU if Hitler was the coach.

What I don't understand is why people think RR would leave UA anyway. He's making $3.2 million per year there and he's doing well enough that he'll be able to coach there as long as he wants assuming he keeps doing about as well. And there's no reason to think he won't continue doing about as well.

The only reason someone would leave a job like that is if they wanted a taste of the really big time and RR has already had his taste of that.

Rick Trickett inked White. He had to convince Rich to offer him as a QB to sign him.

As far as the guy who was hollering about "big slow white farm boy's" there was big white fullback on that team who triggered that read option. 6-3 260 lbs. and ran a legit 4.5 forty. He had to send tape to an assistant to get a look from El Producto, who was enamored with Jason Gwaltney, who was slow as molasses.

As for Slaton, I'm not sure who brought him into the fold. It took until after mid-season and injuries ahead of them for the great evaluator Rich to put them all in the game at the same time. Hell, Rich was seriously considering moving White to WR until the aftermath Virginia Tech game.

Yup, the man was genius. The Jethro Bodine of college football.
