Is he really an asset to the team?<div>
</div><div>I know some have bemoaned the lack of strength and conditioning of the basketball team. Some have pointed at Akins. But others have sprung to his defense and said that if Akins was allowed to run a S&C program like he wants to things would be different, but Stansbury didn't want his players being trained "that hard."</div><div>
</div><div>Does anyone have any insight?</div>

I don't post often, but I would like to say that Coach Akins would be an asset to Coach Ray. He demands respect, does things the right way, and knows how to strengthen and condition at the SEC level. There may be people who want a fresh start and I can't completely disagree with you. However, Sometimes your strength coach (because he is a hard ***) can be extremely effective in demanding that the culture change. I hope he stays...

actually get to see how good Akins is now. If Ray lets him run his program, you'll see what he can do. And I think that will happen. Nothing wrong with Akins. He's just been having to work with "jerks" these past few years.
