Do we expect Rick to redshirt any guys?

We signed a bigger class that usual and have some solid upperclassmen still on the team.<div>
</div><div>Hood and Smith will play this year, no doubt. But what about Gardner, Long, and Johnson. Do you think one or two of those get redshirted?</div>

I expect it to be Johnson or Long. I doubt Gardner is redshirted, but if we have enough depth it would be a great idea with next years class.

It seems like there is a player who could redshirt each season because there is too much established depth at their position already, or they arent developed enough yet, but Rick still plays them in the early part of the season for a handful of games and then they are sent to the end of the bench for the rest of the season to sit while their chance at a redshirt is wasted.

Timmy Bowers had redshirted his freshman year. He started in maybe 7 games at the start of the season because Antonio Jackson was injured. Then had some mop up duty as the season progressed and Jackson was back. Heck, even Ravern only averaged about 6 min a game as a freshman.

That he wishes he had redshirted Marcus Grant. That would have put Grant on the final four team.
