It must be Cohen thing. I remember playing his UK team back in 2007 at The Dude. It seemed like they had 15 HBP's that weekend. Drove me absolutely crazy.

However, it does help that Rhode Island has been extremely wild tonight.

Let me guess, this is the next Cohen move that will be bitched about? I don't see any way having a bunch of HBP can be construed as a bad thing. If you lean into it, the ump calls it. If it's legal, it's a base.

Only bad thing I can think of is Renfroe getting hit on the hand, when he tried to get out of the way. I guess Cohen coached that one, too.

Actually, the stats guys will probably applaud this strategy. OBP, along with SLG, are the two most highly correlated statistics with scoring runs. If anything, the sides may switch; this is something that the traditionalists might not like.

Cohen teaches hitters to stand their ground... It's their batters box, so they crowd the plate. I'm fine with it. It's only resulted in one minor injury (this year) in cohens time here. a HBP results in free bases, so why not?
