Do we need a new RB coach?

Obviously, the OL stunk it up in a major way this year. But what do we think of Blackwell? His background is interesting. Lots of experience as a RB coach, but he doesn't stay anywhere long.

He was at WKU for one season. A high school for one season. UF for one season. Toledo for 2 seasons. WVU for one season. Houston for 3 seasons. Ole Miss for one season. A&M for one season.

Is it a position that should be looked at for an upgrade? Is it time for the annual suggestion that we try to get Duce Staley from the NFL only to have it pointed out that he never got his degree as far as anyone actually knows?

Good call.

Maybe this is part of the reason for the delay in hiring an OC? Perhaps he held onto Blackwell to get through signing day to see if we could land a RB and wanted to wait to hire an OC until after that part of the staff was decided. If so, I would hope we get some OC news soonish.

Running back recruiting has been extremely poor under him. Performance on the field has been not quite as bad, but not even above average. Rocket Sanders was a damn good back but as a one year transfer, was more of an anomaly.

The lack of recruiting and player development at the running back position under Montario Hardesty and now Blackwell have both been abysmal. Its become more than clear that Beamer does not know how to pick offensive coaches.
