okay, during the 1998 highlight they showed JJ leaping over the pile into the endzone. i got to thinking - when was the last time we had a player who could do that consistently? or, does our coach not believe in that play, and thus doesn't call it?
we had 4th and 1 twice against auburn. neither time did we try to jump over the pile (the second 4th down was about a half-yard). i know we don't have the behemoths on the OL like we did then, but surely we have someone who can leap. dixon loves jumping over people when he gets to the corner - let him try to dive over the pile.
on a side note, tay bowser blocked an extra point against la tech from the "jumper" position on FG block. but against auburn, he was lined up on the edge trying to run around the corner. why we didn't have the 6'3" player (who already had blocked a FG) trying to run around the corner is beyond me. pegues was the "jumper", so maybe the only reason bowser was there was because pegues was out. damn, i miss michael gholar - and he should've played 4 years of football.</p>
