or short/intermediate route guys who can break it big?

If not do we have deep threats (that can catch) since the departure of the track star?

to be short intermediate route slot guys that you try to match up with a linebacker and you try to get them the ball in space and let them do their thing.

I think Leon Berry is a deep threat. I hope Micheal Carr pans out as a go to guy. I think Marcus Green can stretch the field deep to.

Although Heavens had a relatively nice, deep corner route for a TD yesterday. I think they will perform well in short-mid routes and we know they have the moves to break one big. As far as a legit downfield threat, I don't think we have one. We have some quick WR's, not really many with any break away speed.

and cover 2 style of play, a deep threat is not all that necessary. They are both intermediate passing threats for the most part that are capable of making big plays.

We can put anybody on the outside to run the CB's off and let these 2 work LB's and safeties in the middle of the field for lots of success. They just have to learn how to do it. Last year against Fla, Lee sees the blitz coming and Heavens 1-on-1 with a LB...Lee throws it perfectly and nearly takes off Heavens head with it because Heavens was too young and inexperienced to notice the coverage and look for the ball. While Lee played ****** at times, it things like this that would have helped him look alot better that our young WR's were just unable to do last year.

Also, if Relf is hitting Bumphis on 60 yard fade routes, I'm not worried about their speed

I don't trust Russell or Relf to throw the deep ball accurately. There are a lot of opportunities to turn the ball over on deep passes, and I don't want them chunking the ball down the field just to try and make a play. I want them to concentrate on short to intermediate routes, and give Bumphis, Heavens, and Sanders opportunities to make plays after the catch. Go deep a few times to keep the defense in check, but I want them to get in the rhythm of throwing 5 to20 yard passes. Those are gonna be the passes we need to complete to win games this year.

When I think deep threat, I tend to think big & fast. Someone withgreatspeed and taller than most corners they'll be up against. We really don't have that this year. I think Chris Smith may be our tallestreceiver, but I'm not sure he's very fast. The rest are 6ft or less if I'm not mistaken. So we certainly don't have any height advantage. Bumphis, Heavens, Berry - they've got good speed but I don't consider them guys who can outrun most SEC corners.<div>
</div><div>So I think our deep passing plays will depend more on mis-matches and getting guys free than having them just flat out beat the DBs.</div>
