Do you agree with Franklin and Saban?

Accountability is taking action to fix issues by learning and adapting. He fires Ciarroca for the new shiny object Yurcich then fires Yurcich in season when our offense is a dumpster fire then he gets AK who is another dumpster fire. The common denominator is Franklin. He needed to take accountability and yes Barbour and then Kraft needed to hold him more accountable. He just is a lot of talk and no action. And he hides behind weasley excuses.

Don't get me started on how he butchered our WRs and QBs.

As far as it all being the players fault....what? Yes they need to execute but c'mon. Look at Allar, that is all Allar's fault for his performance?

He goes on ESPN and gets this groveling sympathy from the putzes there and says first I had no idea I was going to be fired and then when asked how the program he leads went from the #2 team in the country to a dumpster fire he says he doesn't know. Perfect opportunity for him to be transparent and give some insight into what he effed up but of course he doesn't. Overall he was a lousy leader who never had his teams mentally tough enough to win big games as evidenced by how we always crumbled in the clutch.
If it was so bad for Allar and none of it was his fault, why didn’t he transfer?

No, I don't agree with them. Twelve years is more than enough time to determine a coach's apex and nadir. We have seen his apex, and we are (were) at his nadir. Time to change.

You put them in the spots, had them prepared, made the right decisions, and they failed to execute, but it’s your fault? Explain how.
Because obviously they weren't prepared enough and shouldn't have been in those spots. If they were prepared they would have executed.

Great coaches (and leaders in general) take full responsibility for the failures around them. You're in charge for a reason.

That's before we even get into the fact Franklin wasn't putting people in situations to succeed. Schemes that didn't fit his players, awful play calling, horrible decisions on PT (Kaytron for example), bad strategic decisions (not going for 2 vs Oregon with an exhausted defense), etc

You allegedly "coached" for 25 years...hopefully you took more accountability for your team's failures than you claim.

Loyalty...he learned a valuable lesson
Outside of the military and marriage, loyalty benefits those around you...never you.
He should have enter the draft or transferred. He likely understands that now. Hindsight.

Learned that the hard way a few times in my 56 years!

I took accountability when it was my fault, but that wasn’t every game. That’s a fan/parent thing. I guess it makes it easier to accept the loss if they have someone to blame while they’re puffing up their chests and bragging about their team. My guess is you say you coached, but I seriously doubt it.

It just sounds like you're a former coach that didn't like dealing with parents and have a hard time accepting you were ultimately responsible.

I had no problem dealing with parents because I was honest with them and didn’t just tell them what they wanted to hear. And you’re ultimately responsible for the final results of the season, not every play, quarter, or game. You can’t get out there and play for them.

You're clearly still bitter about it based on your response
Yes, you're the leader of the team. You're responsible for everything that occurs. A bad read, a drop, a missed block...it all comes back to coaching. You don't need to play for them. If someone is executing they shouldn't be playing. It was your (my) decision to play them.
We're not talking little league where everyone plays...

Only in fans or parents minds is that true.

It's only untrue in the mind of coaches that believe they were better than they were.

I won at every level I played as a player and had left coaching behind when family and a real career become my priorities.

If you actually did win at every level as a player, it doesn’t matter because it didn’t have anything to do with you, it was just your coaches. Someone needs to let Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen know they had nothing to do with winning those championships, it was all Phil Jackson.

If the last 11 years has been ruining a program, almost every school in the country would line up for that kind of ruining.
Line up for consistently underperforming in the moments that count. Getting all the resources he ever wanted then leaving the program in disarray. And he doesn't even know why it happened.

And getting to two conference championships and winning one, making multiple NY6 bowls, having six double digit win seasons, and making it to the final four…yeah, a ton of schools would line up for that.

Again, you're not following. Players should take accountability for their mistakes but ultimately the head coach owns everything.

Phil proved in LA he had a lot to do with it. Just like Michael and Scottie didn't win after they left Chicago.

Everyone matters...players and coaches but great coaches also take the blame for a loss without creating excuses.

Bowl games no longer matter...if they ever did outside of 2
Winning a conference title is great. Too bad he lost to subpar teams in Pitt and Michigan keeping him out of the playoff. It all matters.
Yes many programs want to good but they should want to be great.

Saying they take the blame doesn’t actually mean they take the blame. Not many coaches believe it’s their fault because they know when the players fail to execute the game plan. I’m done discussing this with you. You feel one way and I feel another, as usual, we will never agree.

Every program wants to be great, but it’s not as easy as some on here think.
