It's that time of the year.

Do you enjoy it or endure it?

Myself, I love the holidays. Of course, sports being in high gear has a lot to do with it.

I enjoy that football and basketball are in full swing. I used to enjoy them when I was working because we got a nice 4 day weekend with Thanksgiving and usually managed a 3-4 day weekend with Christmas depending on what day of the week it fell on. Now that we're both retired, I couldn't possibly care less. Kids are grown and we have no grandkids, but I do enjoy the eating aspect of it....of course, that's a year round sport for me anyway....

I hate cold weather and love to golf. Around here you can't do that in winter so no I hate the holiday season.

I need to move to Arizona I guess.

Child at heart here. Favorite time of the year, well maybe with the exception of Derby week. Oh, if the Cats are in the Final then that takes the prize.

I love it.

Now with a 3 year old granddaughter, I can't wait for Christmas. Other than the weather it has always been my favorite time of year. Family, friends, food.

The only bad thing is my Christmas Eve birthday. Hated it as a kid.

Love it! Any excuse to hang out with my young'uns and/or girlfriend's young'uns. Five wonderful, bright young adults that I love dearly. I really enjoy being able to spend extended amounts of time with them.

My wife's birthday is Christmas Eve as well. She said it sucked as a kid, but doesn't care now. We usually go out to eat and to a movie the week after Christmas to celebrate.

Two little kids now. Love the excitement that they have from Halloween through Christmas. Throw in some snowy days, football and basketball, good food....love it.

But then that itch for baseball start up in February and it makes warm weather so awesome.

I love the holidays. I try to make sure to get a chance to party with everyone I know at least one time. I also like to laugh at all the holiday curmudgeons. If you don't like Thanksgiving and Christmas you probably don't like life that much.

Thanksgiving, sure, but Christmas can fug right off. It is nothing more than a bigger Valentine's Day that you have to show you love someone by buying them ****. Also, fug winter right in the Alps.

I don't mind x-mas.

But Thanksgiving is another story. I have come up with many ways to miss thanksgiving dinner over the years. Yes I hate one side of my family and a few on my side. But I love most.

They ******* can't cook.

Dam sad you need holidays to like or enjoy life. I party with everyone I want to no matter what the date is. Thanksgiving sucks because I have to be with family that : is not family. We see then once time a year. Christmas is the one I absolutely love. Because everyone at ours is friends, family, and would die for another.

And thanksgiving is the most pathetic holiday of all.

Thanksgiving is the original american holiday. Why do you hate america?

We sat down with people with didn't like and would later slaughter or force into a place they didn't want to live so we could have their home. Thanksgiving is America.

Dam. I apologize. I'm just talking about my Thanksgiving. The best way I can explain it is , 7 vs 8. refuse to believe one side could be right.

And I am in the 3-4 that just want Thanksgiving dinner over.

Sorry you all hate your family so much. Ts and Ps.

I think we got all of our awkward holidays out of the way when I was a child.

How so? My mom, dad and brother are all dead. Our kids live less than 20 miles away. We usually see them a couple of times a week. My in-laws live about 10 minutes away. We see them a couple of times a week. My niece lives about 20 minutes away. Her kids are playing sports, so we go watch them some. I don't like how people get bat **** crazy around the holidays. Traffic is awful. I usually have to take a back road coming back home if I'm in town instead of the quickest route because it goes by the biggest shopping complex we have, and there's a good possibility that there's an accident there and traffic will be backed up. No, nothing sad about it....

I don't mind the holidays, having kids makes it fun... I just wish they didn't sell 14' dia blow-up pumpkins, animatronic Santas and 10,000 lumen Christmas light strings. Pintrest can also suck the beeg one during the holiday season.

White, wire-frame reindeer are the worst- just ahead of the pastel eggs, which are supposedly laid by bunny rabbits, that hang from trees in the spring. What goes on the the minds of those people?

Love Christmas but hate every single thing about Thanksgiving. Spending Thanksgiving this year in Prague to avoid it.

As far as I'm concerned, I might never be in the country again on Thanksgiving.

Absolutely love it. September-December are probably my 4 favorite months of the year. Didn't use to be like that, but since I've been married I've really grown to love the holiday season as my wife makes it fun and I really like my in-laws. Love christmas drinks, movies, shopping, the decorations, snow, hanging out by a fire, and stuffing my face with delicious food. Really all that stuff. Love seeing my family. All in all I really like everything about it. And I expect it to only get better as my wife is expecting in February.

January and February can DIAF, however. Absolutely loathe those months.

For some reason news video of cars clogging the expressways and airports being log jammed with travelers in time for the "holiday" weekend. Taking extra vacation notwithstanding--anyone who kicks their own *** putting themselves on the 6pm travel news based on that extra day or two --is a dumbass.

I'm gonna try harder to think like this but damn it feels like a bunch of running around and wearing everybody out for no one to really have fun that equals the effort spent. Kids do make it fun. And liquor. But doing the tour of in laws broken homes and generally disappointing everyone for not spending more time with them gets old. And I have to truck it to glorious east Kentucky for that privilege.

My family comes, has a good time, goes home.

Anyway Ron, I'm gonna give it an honest shot to think like you. And I'm with you in January February. And for that matter March. Eff them
For ever.

It's always a very special time for me. I think about the joy it brings to my children. I think about the true spirit of the season.

In my mind's eye, I can see myself about 10 years ago waiting in line at the store in late December trying to get a last minute gift for my girlfriend (now wife) and just being generally grumpy. I really wasn't in the Christmas mood at all that day.

I looked up from my phone to see a young boy in front of me....instantly felt bad because his clothes were worn out and he looked flustered about something. He was digging through his pockets looking for change, and had a box under his arm.

The line finally cleared and he made his way up to the cashier. I'll never forget what he told the clerk. His father had sent him out to the store to buy some special shoes that his mother had wanted for years. He went on to explain that his mother had terminal cancer, and unfortunately could pass at anytime. He wanted her to have those shoes....so she would look good for Jesus.

The cashier looked down at the money the boy had placed on the counter, but it wasn't enough. I closed my eyes....and I did the only thing I thought could help him. I told him his dad was an ******* for only giving him $15 for a $25 pair of shoes.

The other register opened up so I jumped over to it, bought the candles / lotion and left. I often reflect on what a dick that kid's dad was.
