This game was a mixed bag. Thrilled to get a win and with the turnovers on defense, but this game was in doubt at the start of the fourth, and I thought we we're about to repeat a bad loss from last year. It was the same scenario minus some great plays (Westerkamp) and the turnovers on D. Maybe that's the silver lining: the D is making plays. But how much is that was on the WY QB or tipped balls? I think I feel worse...

I was saying this after Fresno. There are so may areas we need to improve. Our line play is average. The discipline problems are a big concern because they are telling me something about the players and where their heads are.

Where is Freedom? You still allow a QB outside ar the end of the half? You hit players from other team who is just standing there. Holding.

So how does fit with the saying about improving from game 1 to 2?

I like what Bohl is doing at wyo.

I think the game could have went better if we established the run more, I think that helps armstrong from making mistakes in the passing game. where he feels it all on him to get the offense going, then forces a ball that gets picked. I didn't expect the wyoming qb to fall apart late, he was pretty constant most game.

the offense seemed to go flat in the second quarter, I don't think we can afford to do that against the ducks, or the dumb penalties.

I feel good about the team, but make no mistake, Oregon will cash in on mistakes the way Wyoming couldn't. End of the third and fourth quarter was good to see Nebraska get turnovers and score on them.

Like I said in another thread, teams like Clemson, Okie State, Georgia all struggled or struggling right down to the wire today against teams not much better, if even that, than Wyoming. Lots to improve on for sure for the Huskers before Oregon comes to town.

all our rb's are pretty good, the 3rd string rb on the last drive running up the middle (so we didn't run up the score) looked pretty good.

I didn't think we'd cover, and we held their RB who average like 135 a game last year to 46 or so. I feel ok.

Feel about like after the first game. Strong victory margin shows they got the job done. But still too sloppy for prime time. Hope they were looking ahead a little to Oregon, because we'll need to play better in all phases in that one. Tommy passed better overall, but back to making a few bad decisions. Too many penalties. Running game was decent, but not dominant. Thought the receivers looked good. D-backs did an outstanding job of picking the ball. We'll see where we're at in a week.

Much better. Last year we lose or eek out a win. Today we win by 5 touchdowns. Lots to improve on but feel we are significantly better than last year

I feel better than last year, for sure! I was speaking in reference to Fresno. I was hoping we'd move the ball on the ground better than we did.

Tommy is who he is. I was concerned with the snaps issues, issues at the mesh point during hand-offs, and he seemed oblivious to the pass rush while in the pocket sometimes. Wish the Oregon game was a night game.

The shotgun snaps were an issue, lots of low balls.

Way better. There are a few areas to still clean up but every school is in that position. What a bright future for this team. From what was handed to them last year to where they are going. Way better feeling.

Penalties need cleaned up. Overall, I don't see how you can't be happy with a convincing win with no injuries and a plus 5 in he turnover column.

I feel better. I am getting really concerned about our punting. The penalties are mental errors that can, in theory, be fixed. But it looks like we simply lack talent big time in our punter. Bad punting will kill us against better teams down the road

Before the season I thought we'd be a 7 to 8 win team. After 2 games I think we win 7 games in the regular season. Both lines are very young. We have great WRs and good RBs and TEs but we have a very mediocre QB and he really holds us back offensively. Linebackers are solid and I really like our young dbs in Jones, the Andersons, and Kalu. If we had a solid Pro Style QB I think we could win 9 or 10 but with Tommy at the helm I'm setting my sights on 7. I think we lose 3 of our next 5 beat Minnesota and Maryland and knock off one of Wisky, OSU, or Iowa.

Considering Okie State lost to Central Michigan, Georgia only beat Nichols State by 2, Clemson only beat Troy by 6 and currently Ohio State leads Tulsa 6-3 with 3 to play in the second quarter, I'll take a 35 point victory.

IMO this game set up and played out much like the Southern Miss game last year. Both So Miss last year and Wyo this year came to Lincoln obviously overmatched. Both teams had horrible seasons prior, but came in with some talent, an athletic QB who could make plays, higher expectations for their seasons, and nothing to lose. Both played at 11:00 am. Both teams were allowed to hang around far too long. The difference between the two games, last season we never turned the corner and put So. Miss away. That game was in doubt until the closing seconds. Today, that drive at the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th was the nail in the coffin. We went for the throat at that point in the game. So I do think we are better in week 2 this season than we were in week 4 last season.

Yes we have to clean up penalties. Yes we know what we have with TA and just have to hope for the best at this point. Yes we still need more consistent play on both lines. Yes our secondary is still suspect at times. However, IMO the 2016 Huskers are a relatively significant improvement over the 2015 version and while I consider it a long shot, I still think we're capable of 10 wins in the regular season. 8 is probably more realistic, but this team has the capability to win 10 if they just would just work on some discipline.

My goodness people, what does it take for a QB to win some of you over? Yes TA threw a pic into the end zone (again), but in case you missed it, the quintessential pro style QB on the other team threw five pics. And Armstrong passed for around 350. He was also accurate with most passes.
Is TA a great QB? No. But he is also not just an "average" quarterback. He looked pretty darn good to me today despite his pic.
I am far more concerned about punting and penalties

I think we have different standards for what constitutes a convincing win. We played way too sloppy for that win to convince me of anything except we are still an inconsistent team that plays down to our competition. The game was up for grabs going into the 4th quarter, then a terrific play by Westerkamp and a pick on the next series sealed it. I'm glad with the way the team closed out the game, but I was very worried at the beginning of the 4th and don't understand how anyone could have felt that good. That said, TA was 20/34 for 3 TDs - not bad.

People have been complaining for a long time(and rightfully so) about our inability to force turnovers. So we finally force 6(!) of them and people act like they're not happy. Of course I wasn't thrilled with all aspects of the game, but I'll take a 35 point win any day and I'll definitely take it with forcing 6 turnovers.

A 52-17 win in a game some on this board were picking us to lose is convincing enough. No injuries, plus 5, good enough for me. Big names are struggling all over today. I'll take 52-17.

Glad to see a solid turnover margin. Rush defense was stout until garbage time in the fourth quarter. Too many penalties. If we beat Oregon, things will get very interesting. I think we'll know more about this team next week. Wyoming won two games last year.

They were beating themselves for chunks of the game through 3 quarters, leaving 14 points off the board due to penalties. There is plenty of talent on this team to win 9-10 games, if they get out of their own way.

Today we proved that we have a passing game as well as a running game. D looked good to me.

Only concerns for me are the punting game and penalties. I think they'll get cleaned up.

Kind of sounds like some TO coached teams. Tight game till the 4th and then the D makes some plays and the final score was lopsided.

I also don't understand people saying that both of our lines are average. So far I think our defensive line looks pretty solid against the run. And Wyoming has a very big offensive line and a quality running back. Getting Stoltenberg back will make them even tougher.

Dzuris has been making plays, which I didn't expect. He has been a pleasant surprise.
