In case they do here are my thoughts:
Hurley was never in play to come here. We needed to name a coach before Donovan would have been available(and he has turned us down twice before) Getting Oats out of Alabama would have been a dicey process from a business standpoint. Pearl vs Pope, at this stage of the game and trading one of the two for Cal I'll take Pope. Finally Drew vs Pope, when you consider style of play and perceived coaching ability it is a toss up and since Drew had cold feet give me Pope. Lloyd or Golden might have been a different story but they didn't seem to be seriously in the mix.
For the cast of characters we had in our little drama I think we did as well as we were going to do. Pope is likely a better basketball coach than Cal, can he get SEC caliber players remains to be seen. We have been OAD for so long as fans we barely remember any other way and have come to accept it as the status quo.
Will we take a hit in year one? Maybe or maybe not, what if we get to the second game of the SECT, what if we win a game in the NCAAT......it will be better than we have done in the last 2 years
