What's cool about a sw16? Literally 15 others are there. It's not special or cool.

Again, who did we beat in those 2 wins? Where were they seeded? Ignoring the facts make the argument disengenious.

Do you not understand how the tournament works? Nobody beats great teams in the first two rounds as a 3 seed?

This isn’t the gotcha you think it is.

Many coaches assemble this mess of a team....but at UK? Thats not a concept we are used to really.

Don’t argue the record with me. The tournament selection committee thought our full body of work in the hardest SEC in history merited a 3 seed last year, which was as good as we have had in the past four years. And did it with portal scraps. None of that excuses the product on the court right now.
Weren't we a 2 seed, 6 seed and a 3 seed twice during the last 4 years?

We were a 3 seed because we played in the SEC, not because we were that good. ****, we were like 5th or 6th in our own conference.

There is a reason you won't paint the whole picture involving last year.

Right now I'd prefer we have hired a coach who won something. Popes KSAs were atrocious for the UK job. I hope he turns it around but he looks in over his head.

We were a 2-seed four years ago yes. We were a 3 seed and 6 seed in between. How is a three seed not a more full picture than cherry picking conference losses lol? The tournament seed encompasses the full body of work and not all conference records are equal. Do you think 15-1 in the MEAC is the same as 15-1 in the Big 12? I’m sure you don’t. Last year was one of the strongest conferences in basketball history. I’m sorry if that doesn’t fit the narrative.

Umm, I'm literally saying yes, the SEC was stronger, which pushed us to the #3 seed. In hindsight, we weren't near 3 seed level which is why we got waxed by UT when was a #2 seed.

Lol, it's literally my narrative so not sure how it doesn't fit.

Well, he has a S16 and a 3 seed in year one here. Let’s not allow anger to override our brains.
This, he did well as could be expected with scrambling to get a class together and the injuries his first year. Did more with lesser talent than Cal has done in years here.
But, this year he has went to hell. I mean NIT may even be out of the question. If he doesn't turn it around, he needs to leave.

No coach is leaving millions no matter how nice. I hope it turns around but I’ve lost just about all hope that we can with this team. We were shooting 35 percent from three going into the UNC game. At this point though, we have played five good teams and shot awful in every game. Not fixable. I don’t control whether Pope gets a third year, but I’m confident he will get a third year no matter what.

I don’t understand it. I don’t think any of Pope’s BYU teams, or even his Utah Valley teams were this bad. This is not the same team that played Purdue in exhibition. I know it was exhibition and didn’t count but we had offense and Purdue was trying to win the game. Something happened to the team between then and now to mess up chemistry in my opinion. I don’t know if there is any chance this team comes together with all the negativity around it right now. It’s embarrassing and frustrating to say the least.

I still support Pope, but it’s becoming clear we aren’t winning many games this year. The shooting woes are worse than I really thought. There is no fix on the way.
I agree, it’s just a bad mix of players and why the hell does this roster only have one true point guard? Pope showed he could coach last year but he doesn’t seem to have a clue what to do with this bunch.

With Barnhart in charge, I'll be shocked if he doesn't get multiple years regardless of wins-losses.

Barnhart is willing to let a coach go in year 2. We have already seen that before. I think the situation is very different here though. If last year was a stinker, Pope would be getting papers. Last year exceeded expectations. He will get a fiery hot seat year three —- I believe that’s a very rational observation, even though the anger at 11 is 100% justified.

I can deal with bad shooting if everyone plays hard. Thing about it is, teams that play hard usually find ways to hit shots.

Think about recent Houston teams or even St. John’s last year.

I’m tired of hearing about roster construction. Roster construction might mean you lose 66-59 in the Sweet Sixteen in a decent year. That’s not what this is.

Hire was ****, if I’m being honest.

When I heard Mark Pope late the night before it was official, I lost my mind. I was pissed. I was so pissed in fact that my wife had to tell me to calm down.

Next day, I calmed down. I started remembering Marks playing days. I heard Mitch and kinda bought in.

Press conference got everyone pumped and bought in. And conveniently, this whole hire and press conference just happened to completely drown out the swimming scandal thing that just disappeared. Coincidence?

Now - I’m out. Back to where I started and before I was bamboozled with emotion and nostalgia. Mark ain’t cut out for this. He needs to be done after this season.
This is 100% the path we all took when it was announced, I think. I really wanted this to work because Pope is a great ambassador and person that loves the university but sometimes things just.... don't. He'll have a nice nice egg when its over but I feel terrible for the guy. It has to be brutal hearing those boos and just knowing you aren't getting it done.

The fix is this. Kick any cancer off the team no matter who *cough cough* Oweh. No threes for the first 10 minutes of every game and no more than 10-15 a game. Drive the ball down their throats and send four people to the glass every time. Beat the piss out of teams on the glass. Press, trap, foul the living **** out of everyone on defense. Make it absolute chaos on that end. Yeah, it's going to be ugly, but it's the literal only way. Oh yeah and Pope needs to abandon the Mr Nice Guy persona. Get ******* mean and start going ballistic. You want your team to play tough be a tough SOB. You want your team to play mean be a mean SOB. That's all I got.
