I am skeptical Rutgers gets the hirings correct. If the rumors of the interim AD being permanent are correct, we just went from toilet to sewer.

In 4 years he raised enough money to get seton hall new baseball facility, upgraded bball, built a new gym and new locker room. Also cleaned up the coaching mess and made two solid hires
Ok. Fair. Let's see what he raises here in next 3 years. Football coach hiring will be next key.

Way to shoot the guy down before knowing anything about him. I know Patrick Hobbs. While he may not have P5 AD experience, he did lead Seton Hall through transition in athletics. And he was a money raising machine as Dean of the Law School.
You know him only two things I need to know. 1. Can he raise donations I mean serious money. 2. Can he identify coaching talent. That's it if he can accomplish these two feats in your opinion since you know him I'm sold. If he can't do one of these two things then this will remain a questionable hire until he can accomplish these two feats or fails.

I can say yes to #1 based on past performance. On #2, we'll have to see, but I think the coach has been "hired".

Great. We just spent the last 5 years on this board complaining about how Tim Pernetti's lack of experience screwed Rutgers. Lots of folks on this board knew Tim and he too was a great person. We then spent time talking about how we needed a person experienced in running an athletic department. We got that and she started putting things in order but was not perfect like NJ requires. So, yeah, I'm reserving judgment on this hire and will wait the requisite 3 years as the media and board strive to knock this person down for their deficiencies.

Ok well I'm half sold. LOL But if he can raise a lot of money this should ease some of our woes. But #2 is a big one if vkj91 is correct and he has made two solid hires in the past then I feel a little more at ease with the hire. As long as #1 comes to fruition he should have no problems firing a coach if a mistake is made. But remember you have now put yourself in position to be the go to guy for info Knight Shift. It's now your responsibility to set people straight on rumors and I will trust your judgment. Should you accept this mission.;)
