If you are afraid of getting injured you shouldn't be playing football. Take the skirt off, Gretzky.
Its actually interesting Landoboy doesn't want them risking injury for what exactly? It used to be a contentious point a few years ago to not play in the bowl to not get injured because you would get paid in the NFL [didn't want to jeopardize their career chances]....
well they are getting paid now. They are getting paid to play so go out and play else void some of your NIL?? Players can't have it both ways.
Or have the team not got to the bowl game then and only pay the players for services rendered. Alas that would hurt the University in terms of bowl revenue meaning less to pay the players in the long run
there is direct causation to paying players meaning you play the scheduled games including the bowl
Side note imagine if it was the national championship player could get hurt in that game too...the notion that you could get hurt as pointed out is ...then don't play the game at all,...... your are getting compensated precisely for the possibility of injury. See Drew Allar
NIL valuations are negotiated on future value to the team else why give any freshman any NIL? if future value is negotiated that means not only playing the actual games bowl or not in the future , and yes you could get injured but that's the financial risk the university is taking on and are compensating the player accordingly.
Didn't' all the players accept their NIL money at beginning of the year with the expectation they could be playing in 13- 14 games why should that change unless they plan on giving some of the money back if they elect to sit out the bowl game??
