Does anyone else hope they bring the cannon back into the stadium this year?

Wasn't the story on that something about one of the ROTC guys showing off and letting some chick pull the trigger? Seems like i remember hearing that.

Personally, I haven't been very attached to the cannon. Sure, explosives are cool, but when you have thousands of cowbells ringing, it's not much more than a firecracker. <div>

At some point, somebody made them point the canon away from the stadium instead of across the field. It used to rock the stadium. Now its barely noticeable amongst all the other noise.

I think I remember reading that they use a lot less gunpowder ($$) then they use to and that also makes the canon less loud.

I think it's one of the few traditions that we have, and I think it's a good reminder of our ROTC background. I think it was a ***** move to point it in the other direction, and I think whoever asserted that the cannon caused their loved ones heart attack and that the heart attack had nothing to do with their loved ones diet or heredity is full of ****.

And that's about as nice as I can put that.

Not many schools in the SEC use cannons- we may be the only one.

I'm guessing thay whoever had the heart attack is either no longer with us, or too unhelathy to go to the games now, so I say turn it around and let's have some good ol' fashioned American fun.

In the cannon's heyday it would literally shake the stadium. It was awesome!

I hate that loud bang. I'd rather they build a HUGE cowbell (world's largest) and the cheerleaders can ring it when we score.

That sounds like a great idea. In fact, I see a huge *** cowbell in the junction before every game. Bring that bad boy inside and ring it.

See you all Saturday.

because truth be told we don't have a lot besides cowbells an the dawg pound rock. I know we have Maroon and white chant but so does every other school.
