I was told that it was being used as a place holder so the University would not use this space to build a parking lot. I was also told that it is a sculpture of one piece of the backbone. Either could be true and both could be false. Either way, it's funny that I drove up to school one morning to see a huge cardboard penis inside it. Most likely a frat joke or something. It has also been the subject of paintball wars and graffiti..... Poor statue
