Does anyone even know what a catch is anymore?

Julio Jones TD overturned because even though he got a full foot and the first contact of the other foot in bounds, but it gets overturned because his left heel rolled down one millimeter on the chalk. Yet if his body was facing the other direction and he just got his two big toes in, its a catch. Or, if he just pushed off with his toes and then landed entirely out if bounds, its a catch. So dumb.

That seemed like as questionable of an overturn as we’ll see. No way to call that indisputable. If they called it incomplete on the field, I could see that call standing. But, I didn’t see enough to overturn it.

I was watching the game, and I was baffled. It looked like a catch in real time, and the 2-3 replays I saw all looked to me like he got his full foot in even after his heel came all the way down.

At the least, there is no way that there was indisputable evidence to overturn the original call. I really don’t even know what goes on with officiating anymore. All this technology and training, yet there are seemingly more screw ups these days than ever before

I'm pretty sure the replay guy in this game worked the Memphis - Mississippi State game yesterday. That would explain it.

Either way, he didn’t come down flat-footed…the toes clearly landed in bounds first before the heel landed. Initial contact was therefore in-bounds for both feet. Why does the whole bottom of your foot have to land in bounds if you are standing, but only 0.25 square inches of your big toe has to touch in bounds when your laying parallel to the turf and catching a ball that is 2 yards out of bounds in the air? It’s just a stupid 17ing rule.
