What is the story behind this stick with a dog head/face etched on it. Is it a player that is carrying this around?

Well it all started with them being picked to finish last in the West. Having a chip on the shoulder is kinda the team moto this season. If you notice on some of the players undershirts on the shoulder there is a bulldog head with the name 'chip'. If you watch whenever anyone gets a hit or makes a play they will look at the dugout and pat the 'chip', similar to the claw and antlers that the Rangers did last year. One of the managers happened to find a stick and thought it looked like a bulldog head so he went from there. The stick is kinda like this teams rally monkey. Derek Cody from WCBI did a story on it last week, so if you look on there it still might be up there.
